So, I call the offices yesterday, as well as Pizza Hut. The Coast Guard, Navy, and Marines all say they will be there. The Army and Air Force said they will be closed for training out on the bases. Pizza Hut says the ordering office will be open at 10a, and that gift cards (actually certificates, as CARDS are NOT available in Alaska) can be had at the Dimond store (which is just across the street from the Dimond Mall, my target.
So....as I took the day off, I slept til 8:30am. I left at 10:35a and got to the order place at 10:45a. I went inside and told the lady I wanted to order 7 pizzas...very little English told me that they didn't open til 11a. As I had forgetten the envelopes to put the certificates in, I came home. Between the time it took to come upstairs and get envelopes, and get back to my car, it wouldn't start. (I have been having issues and was going to schedule an appointment with my mechanic.) Call Dad, get battery jumped, "you can use my car and buy new battery at Costco on the way home".
Off to order pizza....their computers are down. They call another office, put me on the phone, and I order. I write the price on a napkin, pay the lady where I am, using the napkin as my order form and receipt, and I will meet the delivery guy at 12:30p at the skating rink entrance. Ask about gift cards. Go to Dimond store..off I go. Arrive at Dimond store.."no, we don't have anything like that". But I called yesterday and talked to someone who said I could get them here. "Call the hq store." Do you have the number? They give me the number, I go outside and call. She puts me on hold to call the store. She says she doesn't think they understand. No kidding!! She puts me back on hold, calls somewhere else, then tells me where I really can pick up CERTIFICATES. No time now.
Cross the street to the mall. This flag is HUGE!!
I drive around back, go in and find all the recruiters offices right there. Guess what? Both the Army and the Air Force offices are open. I will go back on Saturday and shove an envelope under the door with the certificates.
Back down to the first floor door and wait just a few minutes for the pizza man. We each carry 2 of those "hot pizza" bags up to the "hall". We empty the bags and he leaves. There I stand in a hall about 50' long, with 7 pizzas and 3 bottles of soda. All three recruiters' offices are actively recruiting, so I leave 3 at the Navy office, quietly thanking them. As I'm getting the Marines ready, a Marine comes to me, says he is on his way out, but he has a Marine in the office and another coming in later from Juneau, who will appreciate the snack.
Down I go to the Marines office and a very handsome young Marine is talking to a young man and a young lady. He is telling them why he joined and nods and smiles my way as I leave 2 pizzas and a bottle of soda and thank him for the job he is doing.
Then to the Coast Guard office and the door is LOCKED!! I hung around for a half hour, but he didn't come back. I could see a couple Coasties in the United States Coast Guard Exam office. You had to be buzzed in, so after about 15 minutes I walked in as a guy came out. I quietly told him the office was locked so I was leaving the pizza at the door. He came out and said he'd take it for them, as it would never find its way into the office. LOL! So he asked my name and why and I told him. He looked surprised and shook my hand.

Then off for a new battery, home, install said battery, and car started right up.
A VERY satisfying day!!
You’ve been a busy little bee! And you didn’t even stay to eat pizza with the handsome Marine. You are a good girl!
