Ooops... I meant We must stand up and fight AGAINST any person who advocates surrender and defeat in the war on terror and against everyone who calls President Bush a traitor.
God bless President Bush. God bless our troops. God bless America.

Im done too. The prayer thread is the final straw. The haters have taken over. Good luck with that.
You both epitomize what FR used to be in the good days and you will be sorely missed by many.
But I completely understand.
Hardly a day goes by anymore where I don't come up against some rude, supercilious poster making snide, uncalled for remarks, usually in response to an innocuous post. There are days when I run into several of them.
It's almost as if there is a legion of people out there who come on FR just to start trouble and stir animosity.
Best to you both and I know I'll see you around. ;-)

Gretchen's post was a voice of reason, and should be heralded.
To the mods, all I can say is I don't know how you do what you do to keep up with this place. The traffic on this forum dwarfs anything out there I can imagine.
Here is an analogy for comparison and clarification. I belong to a couple of militaria collecting forums - a small hobby that I enjoy. The membership is very small compared to FR, yet some members are totally out of control on one site - attacking each other and posting garbage. In contrast, on another site there is a moderator with a god complex who stifles any debate he wants, and deletes posts where "newbies" are trying to sell their items (that they know little about) where he contacts them off line to buy them for 10 cents on the dollar.
FreeRepublic is my hero and a model of effectiveness and wonder on the net. It has been for years.
Jim - you are absolutely correct. The posts were removed very quickly and that is a testament to the job you and the mods do. It is amazing that FreeRepublic has been at the crux of so many major political and social debates over the last 10 years. Really amazing. I am so fortunate to have been a part of it, and my hats off to this site you built and to the mods.
There are times I get frustrated too, and there are about 100 posts I wish I never made. Sometimes things are said in the heat of a debate that you later regret. But, reading them in hindsight reminds me I am a sinful man, and I look to God for mercy and grace.
There will never be an opus on this forum from me. I am not casting stones at those who do post their reasons for leaving. I think it is appropriate for them to do so if they feel they have to give a reason, and I support that. If things ever change for the worse where I feel I will quit, I'll quietly leave because I owe this site that. It has given me more than I have ever given it. For now, there is nothing that can outweigh Free Republic out there, and the mods are doing yeoman's work still.
P.S. - I still love President Bush, and he is still wrong on immigration.

I will restate that what happened on the Prayer Thread last night was symbolic and a final decision-making blow for me. It, in and of itself, was not the reason.
The decision I made was made of principle and logic and a long period of time of thought and prayer.
I am a thought-driven, deeply rooted conservative, and I am out of place on this forum.

Of course we can kick out 12 million people. Where there's a will, there's a way. How could you possibly think otherwise? And we should, don't you agree?

It's time to fight for what we believe in. Tough times are coming, and it's not for the faint of heart.
People who don't have what it takes are walking away. Sad to see, but I say let them go.

That blogger -- Cary Wesbury -- is a total lunatic and a liar. He has a vendetta against Ron Paul and will tell any lie imaginable to try to destory him.
Ron Paul is a fine Chrisitian gentlemen who has been elected from a very conservative Republican district in Texas for many years. His views are well known and respected by his constituents.
You may disagree with his perspective on how best to fight the terrorists (as I do), but to call Ron Paul a lunatic is to reveal yourself as an ignorant lunatic.
