Today the President met with the outgoing British Prime Minister Tony Blair and took part in a joint press availability with him at the White House.

He also attended a commissioning ceremony for Joint Reserve Officer Training Corps and made a statement on immigration reform.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice attended a reception at the British Embassy in Washington on the peace process in Northern Ireland.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

Without saying too much more, there is MUCH more than just my own personal battles involved here.

I am tough. I can wage war against thugs, take a break and come back.

What I am talking about involves principle. The thugs just illustrate it.

This is not about how I feel, Nord. It's about what I think and believe.

There's a big difference.

oWf ... I've probably mentioned before that you're one of my favorite posters, even though you're more of a Bush/GOP loyalist than I am.

I remember your "positive-posts-only" immigration solutions thread a while back. I don't know what practical good came of it, but it was a high moment in recent FR history ... and a demonstration of what this place could be if we could lay aside the anger, vitriol, and sarcasm ... and, while we're at it, the profanity, vulgarity, and the ubiquitous pin-up pictures.

I've never been as active a poster as you (I don't know how some of y'all find time for it!) ... and I've taken long breaks from FR over the past several years, for the reasons I just mentioned.

If you stick with your decision to stay away, FRiend, you will be missed. You have been salt and light for the Lord Jesus Christ.

I'm sorry you feel that way. The Dose is different. I will miss you and I valued your contribution to this wonderful place for those who love and respect our President.

I respect your choice. We will carry on in your place. Thank you for being here while you were.

Thank you SO much, Oliver.

Would that intellectually honest, positive, respectful discussions were even possible any more.

I have watched this forum getting progressively more and more profane and vulgar in recent months with no controls, and frankly, I've had enough.

The only way I will return to posting will be a repentant spirit and enforcement of the rules that are supposed to be part of posting here. When only the 'good guys' follow the rules, the result is chaos.

Six good years, Nord. I was here pretty much from day one, posted for three years, and have had this place be a part of my heart and soul.

The decision was not easy. Trust me.

We’re not them....but you’ve posted your decision...there’s no turning back now. You’ve played your cards. Thanks for the memories. Give your son a hug - he’s the BEST! Take some time off...enjoy your family and your life. Fight on other fronts...but DO NOT give up. The President needs you and the troops need you.

Good grief. The offending posts were deleted within a couple of minutes of being reported. We’ve always deleted offensive posts from prayer threads and even from the dose thread when reported.

I have not become a different person, Nord.

And they're not card. They're principles.

I will never give up. I wouldn't know how if I tried.

I’m with you NordP, even if we are the only surviving posters. I dread the day when this thread will end, and I don’t want it to end any sooner than it has to.

Thank you for your vote of confidence in Free Republic. What your post says so eloquently is the reason we volunteers are back here trying to help Jim, trying to help Free Republic be a place where conservatives can share their thoughts, and maybe just maybe encourage someone to the conservative point of view. We are not perfect by any stretch but we try and we work very hard to be fair. If we can't read every post, we are concerned about the ones we miss, and about helping to keep Free Republic running smoothly.

We do our best as volunteers working hard at what sometimes feels like and occasionally is, up to 20 hours a day each. What you actually see us do is the tip of the iceberg for what goes on back here.

And that is actually the tip of the iceberg for what our boss Jim Robinson has done since the beginning. He continues to work hard every single day, without regard to himself but out of strong love and respect for our country, and conservative values.

John Robinson gives his time, his talent, his skill and his energy relentlessly to Free Republic, with small mention, very small credit considering the yeoman's job he does and all because of these similarly held beliefs.

It's a sacrifice for Jim Robinson, for John Robinson and for all of us Mods, but it is a sacrifice that we gladly make if only to provide a place of encouragement for conservatives, for grass roots activism, for patriotic encouragement and belief sharing.

Thank you Gretchen. Your comments mean a great deal to us and are most encouraging.

I am sure you will be back Ladies :), you are one of the best FReepers.

I intend to stay on FR and fight against all the defeatists who want to surrender us in the war on terror and stand up against those who call our President a traitor.

God bless President Bush. God bless our brave troops. God bless America.
