PELOSI LOWERS THE BOOM Wed May 16 2007 14:43:59 ET

After losing a string of embarrassing votes on the House floor because of procedural maneuvering, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has decided to change the current House Rules to completely shut down the floor to the minority.

The Democratic Leadership is threatening to change the current House Rules regarding the Republican right to the Motion to Recommit or the test of germaneness on the motion to recommit. This would be the first change to the germaneness rule since 1822.

In protest, the House Republicans are going to call procedural motions every half hour.

They don’t plan on being in the minority again - EVER.

And they will take steps to ensure this.

Every day Average Joe America needs to get on the ball and vote these liars and idiots out of power. That’s the only way we’ll be able to get our country back.

Isn’t this a high handed power move on the part of Nancy P. just like what they charged Republicans with doing when Reps. were in charge????

No, it's worse. She already is refusing republicans access to bills in a timely manner, shutting out amendments, and the like.

This new rule would change rules that have been in place for almost 200 years, rules that the democrats had available to them but were unable to use to their advantage.

Nancy is having trouble keeping her side together the way the republicans did the past 6 years, so she has to deny the opportunity for her democrats to vote with republicans on anything.

She/they won fair and square. We need to not be asleep at the switch next election.

She won because a huge percentage of posters on this forum said conservatives should sit out the election to "teach the GOP a lesson".

Great move, folks. I hope you're satisfied.

The ‘Pubbies should have been pounding the Democrats the same way when they were in charge. But NOOOOO! it might have hurt someone’s feelings...

I'm still waiting for our party to take off the gloves. I suspect it won't be any time soon though, as all I can see is more and more caving in to the MoonBats.

The Rats in the House will win every vote so just let them and then block it in the Senate including their budget proposals then if the Republicans in the Senate won’t block them then a few vetoes are in order.

Absolutely not. Rules are rules and the RATS should adhere to the same rules that the GOP operated under with slim majorities from 1995-2006.

If Pelosi and her team cannot keep her own members on board, that's too damn bad. Given that her agenda is purported to be so popular, let the media explain to the American people why she cannot run the House. Please, MSM, explain this apparent inconsistency to us. Do tell.

Protection of minority rights in either chamber is too important from a Constitutional standpoint than to let Fancy Nancy have her way.

The GOP must raise continued Hell, and we have to help them.

Lets see what the MSM spin on this is.

Politico

Chaos in the House

Republicans have thrown the House floor into chaos by calling for repeated procedural votes to protest the Democrats' attempt to limit their ability to offer motions to recommit bills back to committee.

The change to House rules would limit the ability of the minority to offer motions to recommit, rolling back a protection that has been in place since 1822.

Republicans are protesting that move by calling for repeated procedural votes on the House floor.

>Who in the world is advising her?<

It sounds as though there has been a completed takeover of the government. How could this hairbrained woman have the rocks to pull this without a very strong backup? The Dinorats have been very brash and brazen with their rekindled power, acting extremely anti-Constitution. Acting very fascist or very communistic.

There's a sucker born every minute, and those who followed that advice are proof of that.

For the thousandth time, the GOP base did turn out last year. We lost independents 3:2, and with it the House and Senate.

Were you going to vote republican in spite of Iraq? Were you doing so just because you love the “R”, or because you thought in the end Republicans were still better for the country?

If you could figure out republicans were better, don’t you think we could convince the average voter to agree with you?

Don’t lose hope.

Everyone knew she was going to change the rules if the Rats got elected but the Republicans refused to fight back when they had the chance. Pelosi can brag all she wants but she has 0 legislation that has become law.

That depends on how they’re defining “fair and square”. Nevertheless she’s holding the gavel for now.
