Republican Presidential Candidate Debate #2 Columbia, South Carolina 05/15/07 - Official Discussion Thread
Watch live coverage of the First-in-the-South Republican Party Presidential Candidate debate on FOX News Channel and FOXNews.com on Tuesday, May 15, at 9 p.m. EDT (6 p.m. PDT).
My rankings for this debate...
Duncan Hunter (Da man. Clearly the most competent presidential candidate)
Tom Tancredo (good on issues, “Road to Des Moines” line)
Mike Huckabee (likeable, great line about Breck Girl Edwards)
Mitt Romney (not quite as impressive as first debate but still competent)
Jim Gilmore (meh... fumbles his opportunities)
Sam Brownback (meh)
Rudy Giuliani (floundering, but got a huge bump up going after Ron Paul)
John McCain (typical McCaniac)
Ron Paul (international policy and demeanor turning people completely against him)
Tommy Thompson (zzzzzzzzzzzzz)
well said.
You said to txradioguy-—”I wont wrap myself in the flag like you did, but dont give me your I served to protect you BS, because I served when you were in diapers.”
How dare you..what an snootty affront to a fellow veteran..
I am a veteran also, and even if I was to diagree with another veteran..as I do to your personal attack on txradioguy... I would still respect the service that was extended in defense of our country...
I also was in the military while txradioguy was “in diapers” but knowing something of his current service as I do, I would hesitate to insult him...
It is ill-treatment of the US military like this that demoralizes our young soldiers and demeans the patriotism of them and millions of other Americans..
BTW dont consider yourself safe just because you think you might “have enough sense to live in a rural area far away from any target areas, and have lots of supplies and armament to deal with any threat” because the Islamo-Nazis are everywhere...and practice their murderous intentions out in the lonely country areas...
Sorry txradioguy I mention you but didnt didnt include/ping you in my last post I said...

Does anyone have the minute by minute breakdown for how much time each speaker received? It just seemed to me like Duncan Hunter received way less time than the others.
Wish they would’ve let Hunter take on Ron Paul.
He’d be a bit steely eyed meatier than just demanding a retraction.
Service is a duty, like paying taxes and voting. I have never asked for any special treatment because of mine, and it irks me when soldiers lacking humility act like the citizens of this country owe them special treatment because of their service. We are servants, not lords. Anyone without an agenda can see I am criticizing txradioman because of his service; in fact I have the same great respect for txradioguy and his service that I do for all veterans throughout our history, and I mean that from my heart. I continue to serve when I am called as a researcher and analyst(intel) despite the fact that I am financially independent, and I do it for one reason— I love these soldiers. It is his attitude that I have problems with; when you are in the service you are told to treat all civilians with the utmost respect and courtesy, and I just think trying to use his service to humiliate someone who hadn’t served was way out of line.
I’m none of those, I’m A Reagan Republican.
And perhaps you should look in the mirror when whining about the “don’t dish it if you can’t take it”.
Ha!
Just heard about Dennis Miller’s soundbite ~
Said he liked Tancredo saying he’d call Jack Bauer ~ that if it were John Edwards he’d be calling EDDIE Bauer to get the right field jacket to wear to make just the right fashion statement to project toughness.
The serious Pubs showed last night: Rudy, Mitt, Duncan and perhaps The Huck. McCain has to drop out and the rest should too. They are fine guys, perhaps excepting this Paul character who belongs in the House to keep reminding people of the Constitution and out of leadership responsibility. When and if the coy Fred and Newt ever get in, our guys will be very aware and ready to beat the Dem 3 of Hil, BO and Richardson. Edwards is a goner now. I can see a Rudy-Hunter, Mitt-Thompson, Rudy-Thompson, Mitt-Hunter ticket. They would skunk the Left.
I watched the debate last night. Not sure who won but several candidates did well....but what is UP with the stupid polls showing Ron Paul won that thing? He got he butt kicked by a TRANSVESTITE!
Hmm. Are you enjoying the taste of your hat?
If I see it, I’ll post it.
I got my Duncan Hunter bumper sticker last night. :-)
It seems to me that all Paul did was string together a bunch of slogans and talking points from the more wacko fringes of talk radio and the Internet and strung them togther as his Agenda He is good at the foaming at the mouth rage at everyone and everything but cannot answer even the simplest question of HOW he would DO anything.
Frankly of all the candidates, Paul is the worst possible choice. It like he simply made up his mind, like a certain handful of Freeprs, that what he feels is reality and any facts that do not conform to his feelings he simply ignores. He is our version of Al Sharpton or Dennis Kunchinch.
Anyone notice that Ron Paul looks a lot like the guy who ran the Heavens Gate cult?
With more pitiful personal attacks..

LOL, Paul was the only one who didn't sound like a RNC monkey and the only one that gave specifics when asked a question. The hacks on stage OTOH gave well scripted sound bites that didn't mean much, and in most cases were much less specific. Put down the Hannity manual and think for yourself son.

I agree. The Giuliani followers have ignored the facts. Like THE ones described in intelligence manual after intelligence manual that Bin Laden's REASONS (like that random capitalization?) stated his declaration against us was for occupation of Saudi holy lands and not our ATMs..
Looks like at least SOME people are starting to realize that NOT only does Ron Paul have NO business running for President, he probably is even too mentally incompetent to be in the US Congress!

Former Ron Paul Campaign Coordinator Declares Against Him
Another example of why Ron Paul is mentally unfit for the Office of President of the USA. He simply ignores ALL factual reality of why the US troops were IN Saudi Arabia. But that right, In Paul’s wack job fantasy land, it 1930 again and the US can simply ignore the rest of the world!
It is also completely misleading, as well as totally simplistic, to try and condensed Bin Laden lunacy down to a single Neo Isolationist Talking Point. Another examply of how Paul is totally unfit for the Presidency.
Here, read his Fatwa for yourself.

But mysteriously he does not cite our freedom of religion, our numerous ATMs, nor the propensity of some to overcook the popcorn in the microwave..
