Republican Presidential Candidate Debate #2 Columbia, South Carolina 05/15/07 - Official Discussion Thread
Watch live coverage of the First-in-the-South Republican Party Presidential Candidate debate on FOX News Channel and FOXNews.com on Tuesday, May 15, at 9 p.m. EDT (6 p.m. PDT).
Tancredo hasn’t broad enough experience to make it, but we need a gadfly in Congress to keep them from pretending this isn’t a REALLY SERIOUS ISSUE.
There are many illegals who are fine folks. And if they had stayed in their own country and fought to change things there for the better, no others of their fellow citizens would have needed to come here.
Fred was a major player in bringing down a corrupt and criminal Tennessee governor who was among other things selling prison pardons. Thus the governors nick name was Pardon me Ray or Ray Blanton. The movie "Marie" tells the story and Fred plays his own part as the lawyer representing the state corrections commissioner. He exposed the corruption that led to inditements and later prison.
Fred's senate voting record can be found here http://www.issues2000.org/Senate/Fred_Thompson.htm
Your description would probably be a surprise to the 280,000 registered voters.
You haven’t been there lately.
There are thousands of major homes in the million dollar+
range. El Cajon has a pop. of around 160,000
Poway has a number of millionairs, Other areas in the East Co. have also upscale areas with multi million dollar homes.
Tonight was the first time I saw why Rudy has so many supporters.
They want that steely eyed resolve that was ready to skewer Ron Paul and demand a retraction.
It’s a fear that’s willing to give him a pass on everything so he’ll keep everyone safe from Islamic and Democrat thugs. Those who say he’s no different from Hillary are wrong. She would have applauded Ron Paul.
Hope they do brush clearance.
It’s time for Fred Thompson to get off the fence. I get to a point that I don’t appreciate it that all the other candidates are facing the firing squad in these debates, while another “maybe I’ll get in” candidate sits on the sidelines as the others do the heavy lifting. Either sh*t or get off the pot, Fred. The time has come.
Thanks.
I agree. The illegals should have been cleaning up their own country.
With tens of thousands of illegals in S.D. it is costing us here mega millions a yr to support them.
McInsane outright lied tonite when he said he never has nor would he vote for amnesty. What the heck does he thinks his co-sponsored McCain-Kennedy bill is? Geez.
Great minds think alike. WE posted at the same time, same subject.
You can tell I am both tired and angry by the bad grammar and mis-spelling
I think Fred is a good man. He did a cute little response to Michael Moore recently.
But his indecision may be born of lack of ambition early enough to make a credible run.
He may be banking on the no clear winner in the primaries scenario.
But the delegates are people like you. If you haven’t been in the fight and been tested, they will question whether you have the stamina and ambition to make a successful general election nominee.
I think he is going to do some more soul searching and exploration feelers about money and find the parade has passed him by.
We need a President who can plan a few years in advance, actually, not one who throws things together unsuccessfully late in the game.
A few years back I contacted an attorney in District 52 for some specific legal work, but when I drove to ElCajon to meet him, his office was full of campaign signs and literature. Turns out the attorney was a Dem, running for Hunter’s seat in Congress!
I backed out of there REAL fast!
Yes, I think Rudy stopped some of the hemorrhaging with that steely eyed moment.
But the Republican Party voters are learning too much about him, and finding there are alternatives. He’s going to have rough sledding in the next months.
Doesn’t the Constitution say there shall be no religious test for office?
Saying you understand how a nation or group of people could be prevoked into attacking us is not supporting or excusing them. It is telling you hey our policies need some correction. It is not condoning their actions or being sympathetic. Even Reagan had to come to that realization about the M.E. They don't give a tinkerdam about American Values nor our way of life. I think we should stop trying to sell it to them.
I would bet if Ron Paul had been elected in 2000 Saddam would still be dead. Likely a lot sooner and likely 3000 plus lives of our troops spared and a fraction of cost to taxpayers. Not to mention no massive deployment needed.
As it stands now when the next Radical Cleric installed dictator takes over in Iraq he will be a far greater threat to us than Saddam. Saddam had nothing left to fight with. Why are we building up a military machine that yet more U.S. soldiers will have to face in the future? THAT IS RON PAUL'S HISTORY LESSON that flew right over Rudy's head and Sean Hannity as well. Rudy needs to apoligize for his false accusation.
