Tonight was the first time I saw why Rudy has so many supporters. They want that steely eyed resolve that was ready to skewer Ron Paul and demand a retraction. Its a fear thats willing to give him a pass on everything so hell keep everyone safe from Islamic and Democrat thugs. Saying you understand how a nation or group of people could be prevoked into attacking us is not supporting or excusing them. It is telling you hey our policies need some correction. It is not condoning their actions or being sympathetic. Even Reagan had to come to that realization about the M.E. They don't give a tinkerdam about American Values nor our way of life. I think we should stop trying to sell it to them.
I would bet if Ron Paul had been elected in 2000 Saddam would still be dead. Likely a lot sooner and likely 3000 plus lives of our troops spared and a fraction of cost to taxpayers. Not to mention no massive deployment needed.
As it stands now when the next Radical Cleric installed dictator takes over in Iraq he will be a far greater threat to us than Saddam. Saddam had nothing left to fight with. Why are we building up a military machine that yet more U.S. soldiers will have to face in the future? THAT IS RON PAUL'S HISTORY LESSON that flew right over Rudy's head and Sean Hannity as well. Rudy needs to apoligize for his false accusation.

"Saying you understand how a nation or group of people could be prevoked into attacking us..."
Based on what Ron Paul said tonight, it is clear to me that he does not in the least "understand" why the militant Islamics have repeatedly attacked the US. He did not offer any evidence that he understands the motivations of the Koranimals. Hint: the repeated attacks against the WTC (1993 and 2001) had nothing to do with US influence in Iran in the 1950's. None of the WTC attackers were Iranian or actively supported by Iran at the time.
President Paul's #1 defense spending priority: Building a time machine so that we can retro-actively prevent the US from supporting the Shah taking over Iran in the 1950's. Face it, he may have good ideas about limited government, etc., but when it comes to the WoT, he's just a nut.
