Anybody know if bullets eventually become unstable with time? Do they have a shelf-life? Moisture is the enemy of Ammo.
With age the primer will become less likely to ignite (what we call a dud). Some times you can get a poor primer to fire on a second or third try.
If moisture permeates the powder charge it is possible it will fissile (that is burn poorly) and you may end up with a bullet failing to exit the barrel (which is the very definition of a bad day).

I am hiding my vise and hammer.

Well you could recycle them as scrap. You’d probably get $0.25!

"A .223 case weighs about 95 grains, about 75 to a pound. So this brilliant young entrepreneur was wasting live ammo - easily worth 20 cents a round - to sell the brass for 2.3 cents." I just paid 34 cents a round for 500 rounds of Federal American Eagle .223. I thought that was a good price. I would have gladly given this bonehead 20 cents a round.
It must be pretty obvious that he didn't pay for the ammo...

Did anybody ever take a whole roll of paper caps and whack em with a hammer???My buddy and I had this hammer thing that you put a cap into. When you smacked it on the ground, it shot a little rocket a few inches into the air. So we took a whole roll, carefully tore all the paper off but over the powder, loaded this thing up, and whacked it. Damn! We never saw the little rocket thing again. If we were standing over it, it probably would have killed one of us.

I’ve had access to ammunition for 45 years, hammers and screwdrivers a bit longer. It has never occurred to me to “whack” ammunition with hammer and screwdriver.

with the price of brass what it is now, if he tried to pick up my brass we’d have a little ‘splainen session’ about not touching my damn brass...

Kind of like stealing beer and emptying the cans down the drain so he could recycle the aluminum. With the minor exception that beer doesn't explode.
