Ah, yes, and I love the smell of conservatism mixed with patriotism...something most of the “mainstream” GOP candidates know little about.

Thompson is going to win every grassroots straw poll. It will be interesting to see how far that gets him in the primaries and how much $$$ he raises.

Another way to ask that is, are there two GOP’s? Or one? How much does the grassroots matter?

Personally, I think Thompson will be the nominee.

Not that this necessarily means a whole lot

As a Washington State conservative, support from the WA GOP would make me run the other direction.(to the right).

Now if this was the Eastern Wash. branch, it would mean something.

I like Fred, but I wish he’d get busy getting in, or get busy staying out. This waiting is just going to pi** off a lot of people.

Now people, before we get too excited about this, just remember one thing: state party straw polls ONLY count when Rudy wins them!

I just heard from someone who was at the Washington Republican dinner at SeaTac, where the straw poll took place. 550 attended, and 160 voted in the straw poll. Thompson drew 80, Romney drew 26, Giuliani drew 24, and Duncan Hunter drew l6. So 350 people thought it was too early to vote yet. A good omen for Thompson, no argument.

Nice to see Duncan Hunter up near the top. Hunter may not have the advantage of being an actor but he is clearly the best candidate in the race and it’s good to see that though many would like to silence him and pretend he doesn’t exist and not want people to learn of him, he continues to do very well in these straw polls.
