Amazing cognitive dissonance. They purposely chose to implant these two boys, and then felt no guilt while stopping their hearts.

"We didn't do anything wrong, which is to say, we did everything right."

Sorry Dan and Mrs. Neil, but you most certainly DID do SOMETHING WRONG!!!

Intentionally killing your children, may to you, not be "wrong" however it is very, very wrong (and it's called murder even if lawyers in black robes say it's OK). God doesn't agree with them and He certainly doesn't consider you innocent.

Murder of one's own children, even for convenience, is a particularly heinous deed.

Having read only part of your article, I am praying to God, for all of your babies, the living and the dead.

FTA:
But the truth is, there is no such thing as a pretty abortion. The alternatives to intact D&E are no less grim. Is grasping and dismembering the fetus in utero with forceps (as opposed to after a partial extraction) or injecting it with heart-stopping chemicals and then delivering the stillbirth any less repellent?
Good question. Glad to hear you say it, Mr. Neil.

"Cognitive dissonance" seems a totally inadequate term for this.

Typical response/report from a self-loathing liberal MAN. No word on how the woman REALLY feels about this.

There is so much wrong with this “man.”

Overreaching Pride.
Selfishness.
Misanthrope.

And that’s just from the excerpt. I don’t clicky clicky the LA LA Times.

The fact is, multiple pregnancies are high risk, and they can go bad very suddenly. I wasn't going to allow that, though the fires of hell might beckon.

This person is less than an animal. The children might cause medical difficulties, so let's pick two that we will execute. Never mind that playing God is not for humans. It's much easier to rationalize murder when you can claim some possible health risk or that humans are the highest level of consciousness.

And here I thought OJ committed the perfect murder.

Why do they keep saying they are trying to take their right to choose away? Women have lots of choice in birth control or to abstain.

“four thriving fetuses — two girls and two boys...watching the ultrasound as a needle with potassium chloride found its mark, stopping the heart of one male fetus, then the other”

I don’t care what excuse this man has for doing this. To be able to write so disspassionately about plunging a needle into the hearts of his boys, he got to have something wrong with him.

And the girls - does he really think they won’t emotionally carry the mark, that it could have been them?

My mom had 3 misses before I was born, and I sometimes think about them, because if they had survived, I wouldn’t be here. But at least I know my mom didn’t kill them purposely. To know your brothers were destroyed by your parents in your place - there’s no way that can’t affect you.

It’s all about them and what they think they deserve. They executed the boys because?

On the topic of abortion, I always think I’ve heard it all before and nothing else can shock me. And then I often find that I am mistaken.

There was a very real risk of 5 hearts getting stopped if they didn’t, and a near certainty that 4 would have stopped, given that the mother was already experiencing complications serious enough to require hospitalization at just 15 weeks.

Egads! I am afraid to read further. IF they didn’t want a pregnancy with more than two babies they should have implanted just TWO embryos and they wouldn’t have KILLED their other two children.

the U.S. Supreme Court announced its ruling in Gonzales vs. Carhart, upholding the federal ban on a rare obstetrical procedure called intact dilation and extraction, or intact D&E, also known as "partial-birth" abortion.

The decision is a watershed in abortion law, the first ban on a particular abortion procedure since 1973's Roe vs. Wade, and the first restriction on abortion to be approved by the court that does not include an exception for the health of the mother.

This is from the ruling:

No as-applied challenge need be brought if the prohibition in the Act threatens a woman’s life because the Act already contains a life exception. 18 U. S. C. §1531(a) (2000 ed., Supp. IV).

Respondents have not demonstrated that the Act, as a facial matter, is void for vagueness, or that it imposes an undue burden on a woman’s right to abortion based on its overbreadth or lack of a health exception. For these reasons the judgments of the Courts of Appeals for the Eighth and Ninth Circuits are reversed.

It is so ordered.

The author needs to learn to read before writing.

This article is just wrong in so many ways.

At the minimum, I have to laugh at this guy’s fear that his daughters won’t be able to get an abortion whenever they want. He bemoans the government being involved in health care decisions. Yet I am POSITIVE this liberal probably can’t wait for “universal health care”- where all of the medical decisions will be made for him by some schlep in Washington.

Amazing. This slime-ball uses the death of his daughter and son to score cheap political points in a straw-man argument. The PBA and Carhart have nothing whatsoever to do with the procedure his wife underwent. And if he wasn't lying about the jeopardy to her physical health and potentially her life, the statutory exception would have applied.

This said it all for me:

We don't feel guilty. We don't feel ashamed. We're not even really sad.

Assuming he was telling the truth about this being needed to protect his wife in a high-risk pregnancy, it is callous beyond belief. He watched his son die on ultrasound, but is "not even really sad." Nope, he couldn't wait to go write his column to use his son's death to rail about "gun-toting antiabortion extremists." And what when his daughters ask about their other sister and brother? Will he proudly show them this column so they'd understand he wasn't "even really sad" about their loss?
