Bush Plummets … As He Wins the Argument

Polls taken through Iraq’s thick prism reflect increasing public disenchantment with the Bush presidency. The economy hums and the stock market climbs daily to heights previously unknown, but still the president has fallen to the sub-30-percent approval terrain charted only by Jimmy Carter in modern times.

Here, though, is the real anomaly: If one listens, truly listens, to the gloomiest war critics — Democrat congressional leaders and presidential candidates — the president has already won the debate about what is to be done in Iraq.

That’s because, (1) whether or not they actually believe it, top Democrats keep saying we should be fighting al Qaeda, and (2) al Qaeda, like it or not, is in Iraq — massed, determined and deadly. It is the enduring failure of the administration that it cannot seem to make Americans see these two stark realities.

Iraq: The place where jihadists commit the latest atrocity hard on the last. Iraq: The “capital of the Caliphate,” as Osama bin Laden has called it, further describing it as the center of the “third world war … a war of destiny between infidelity and Islam.” Iraq: The site of the battle bin Laden aptly says will end either “in victory and glory or misery and humiliation.”

This poor guy just doesn’t get enough credit. And the propensity for his so called “friends and “allies” to turn on a dime when he doesn’t jump to their every dictat is disgusting. God bless him, he sure as hell is a better man than 99% of his critics.

He is that. However, he is not a great leader and he is a poor politician.

And, 100% better than John F'in sKerry!

As much as the laimstream media hates GWB, IMHO, some of the reason he is constantly getting flack is because he doesn't choose to address the idiots because he thinks it's beneath the office of the Presidency. I think if once in a while he'd respond with the truth the press might think twice about some of the more insane garbage they print and talk about.

I don’t care what the polls say, President Bush is one of the best Presidents we have had, following his father and Mr. Reagan....

Libs try to demoralize everything...they just can’t stand to be out done, and this President does it on a regular basis...

God Bless President Bush and our Troops, God knows the libs won’t.

Bush’s approval ratings are in the “carter” region not because of the WOT but because he isn’t responding firmly to the congressional doom-sayers.

He is seen as weak “at home” because he lets Pelosi and company walk all over him in their rhetoric.

"He is that. However, he is not a great leader and he is a poor politician."

Well, I disagree about the leadership, but would agree about him being a poor politician, unlike Bill Clinton who was and remains the consummate politician.

I'll take a poor politician like Bush any day...

There is probably a certain point at which even good news doesn’t matter anymore. Once the public has made up its mind, evidence to the contrary might even result in more frustration with a president they no longer respect. You can’t fight the conclusions of the public, and trying, even with facts, can anger them more.

What we are seeing now is an twisted, inelegant dance to blame Bush for the war, while avoiding responsibility for its outcome, even after ‘09. Interesting, the MSM is going along with this, in lock step.

The nightmare on their minds is LBJ's inheritance of the war, and the way the press then foisted it on Nixon. The gap between the media and reality is opening up wider each day.

Actually his rating is in the 40's based on Rassmussen's polling. Newsweak uses a 51 or 52 percent dem sample, so of course it comes out at 28%.

“poor politician”

Absolutley. He’s a great statesmen though.

“not a great leader”

This depends. In inspiring the American people to oppose leftism for the evil force it is? No. In reigniting a consevrative revolution and helping free over 50 million people and presenting a new way of life for Arabs and Muslims everywhere? Yes.

Why are conservatives so quick to believe lies put out by people who hate conservatives?

The Newsweak poll that showed Bush to have only 28% support is an utter fraud. Haven’t you heard?

50% more democrats polled than republicans. What result do you *think* they would get?

http://www.captainsquartersblog.com/mt/archives/009895.php

Why don’t they just poll Hillary staffers? It would save everybody time.

Although I am often frustrated by Bush's inability to get his message across and persuade people, I basically agree with you.

I see people slobber over Clinton or Obama, politicians who make slick speeches with no content, vision, or principles and I just shake my head. Those guys are demagogues. Who wants that?

You are absolutely “WRONG” on this and the public does not speak for me or millions of others.

Since when did the lamestream media report good news, especially about Bush’s policies or any Republican for that matter? Give us all a break. I’m not interested in Liberal Hyperbole.
