Former Rep. Bob Schaffer (R-Colo.) said Saturday at a Lincoln Day Dinner that he would run for U.S. Senate in 2008...
Speaking at a small dinner in Teller County, Schaffer told a crowd of about 100 ...
He announced that we were the first to know that he is a candidate, said County Commissioner and former county Republican Party Chairman Bob Campbell. Campbell added that Schaffer said a formal announcement and release would be coming at a later date.
Current Teller County Republican Party Chairman Mark Sievers also confirmed Schaffers announcement: He did say that. He was unequivocal.

Have you see this ?
What has happened to Colorado?
What do you mean? Bob Schaffer is a soild cosnervative. He'll make a fine Senator for Colorado.
Lots of illegals can vote in safe cities like Denver, Boulder...
and lots of city democrats from other states fleeing their messes are also invading Colorado with their ‘stuck on stupid’ ideas...
The big problems are tied to the politics of the Republican party. When the GOP nominates candidates like Pete Coors, Greg Walcher, Bob Beauprez and Scott Tipton, Republicans can expect to lose elections. Colorado has always been a independent minded, conservative leaning state. Candidates have to appeal to a broad range of people. But individuality is still a big aspect for Coloradans.
The Mexicans will take over Federal this weekend. I wonder how many are legal ? I do not have the number, but getting a driver’s license, etc. does not seem to be hard.
Our last governor was terrible. The others you mention were no better.
McInnis and Campbell have been sitting on their hands...
Hopefully, we can start to turn it around somewhat.
What`s the difference between Colorado and California? California has a beach
TABOR is still in place and tax rates will not be going up anytime soon. Colorado remains one of the lowest tax states in the nation. California is one of the highest taxed states.
Your original question was as clear as mud. The topic of the thread and the brief article has to do with Bob Schaffer's run for the Senate. Not what's with Colorado. If your interested the second paragraph of my post at #6, I mention what the problems are.
That is one ignorant statemnt. LOL I've lived in Colorado for over 30 years. Colorado is nothing like California. You pinhead.
Bill Owens was Governor of Colorado for eight years. He wasn't perfect, but he did a good job for the people. Some folks didn't like his support for allowing the state to keep surpluses for five years, but it was the best decision. Otherwise tax rates would have gone up and TABOR would be have died a hard death. Right now, TABOR is alive. Don't listen to the Colorado Libertarians/libertarians who spout off on FR.
TABOR wasn`t changed in `06? Guess I`m wrong. The head of the Republicans Party in Col.was on Hugh Hewitt a few weeks ago and said that property taxes were going up, but, the guy`s probably a pinhead like me. How do you like your new Democrat Legislature and your new Rat Governor?
Hey...
Noo Yawk...
“You pinhead.”
Dat’s what I’m tawkin’ ‘bout. ;o)
You don’t need to insult people.
Your arguments stand alone.
I met Owens before he was governor and he came across well. He followed up by mail, answered questions promptly, sent information, etc.
The few times I met him while he was governor, he was trying to do too much...lots of national tv as if he was running for President ( even many sport shows ). I know that the governor job has tons of pressure, but Owens seemed more overwhelmed and less organized than others.
He did great his first years with T-Rex...but then seemed to fade at the end. Maybe his personal problems were overwhelming ?
My disappointment is less on his misses with TABOR than he did not appear to be a good party leader. We can not blame him for all of our misses, but for some at least.
I wish that he could have run for a third term. If he was not term limited, he would have won. Also he could have been our US Senator, had he wanted the job in 2006.
IMHO.
Doesn't Ward Churchill count? He's a son of a beach.
TABOR is still intact. In 2005, the people voted to allow the state to keep any budget surpluses for five years, in order to rebuild the states infrastructure which has been hurting since 2000. Better then having tax rate increases and seeing TABOR go down in flames.
The Democrats held onto the state legislature and Bill Ritter is the new Dem governor. Facts of life. The GOP ran bad candidtaes and lost.
I live in the most conservative county in the state and one of the most conservative in the nation. El Paso County Colorado, home to Colorado Springs. Great life down here.
You’re to much of a coward to post where you live, but I take it you are in some part of the Socialist Republic of Kalifornia. Am I right?
Get this through your thick skull. Colorado is no California. And anyone who takes that RINO loving Hugh Hewitt seriously, needs to have their head examined.
Owens had been talked about as a serious contender for president in ‘08. I am guessing that got derailed after he and his wife were divorced. Plus I know he disappointed some conservatives on a few issues. Too bad he couldn’t have been considered presidential material for this coming election since we need as many good candidates as we can get.
Just having some fun with the old boy. ;^)
You may be having some fun,
but your message is diluted...
Noo Yawk...;o)
