This is confusing :

” Ex-congressman denies making statement during Teller County event...”

“I don’t know what he said in Teller County Saturday, but I do believe Bob Schaffer will be announcing his intention to run or not to run in the near future,” said Dick Wadhams

The article I read indicated he initially saying he was running at the event because he’s not ready to formally announce, but people present at the dinner said he really did say he’s running.

Here's what he said in the article: "I have not announced a candidacy or campaign and if and when there is one, I will announce it at the appropriate time," the Fort Collins resident said Thursday.

I suppose you could interpret this to mean "formal" announcement and that way neither Shaffer nor the people at the event would be lying. He's going to want max P.R. impact from an announcement, plus there are FEC implications flowing from the formal announcement.

Kinda embarrassing and bush-league, though, to get involved in a dust-up like this diverting attention from his message.

I voted for Schaeffer over Coors in the last senatorial primary. The fawning over that novice politician rich guy was disgusting.
