Melamine is "simply not a chemical even on the radar screen for food ingredient suppliers," he wrote.
But it does have a lot of nitrogen in it, says Ron Madl, director of Kansas State University's Bioprocessing and Industrial Value Added program. The most common way to test protein levels in the grain industry is to test for nitrogen, a major component of protein.
Anyone want to make a bet that it's not in the human food supply?

Yes, only one dog at a time for us. Gypsy is a 7 year old English Shepherd (or so we’ve been told) we rescued when she was 4. Poor Gypsy wasn’t born with an off-switch and somewhere along the line developed hypothyroidism. I know exactly how much food, exercise and thyroid to give her to keep her at 57 pounds. Solid Gold products have kept her very healthy for the 3 years we have had her.

WHY? For what purpose? If China commonly adds it to their pet food, why would we want to buy from them when we know it is toxic? I know the answers so no need to reply. I’m just very angry about this whole thing.

Son just got a recall from Costco concerning their canned food, it was dated April 26, 2007 Says they are recallig their canned food. He got this TODAY, May 5th.
He wrote them on April 1,2007 asking them about their food as his dog was showing signs of what these other dogs were showing who were sick.
They wrote him on April 2, 2007 and reassured him that their was nothing wrong with their food and it was not recalled.
His dog was taken to the vet on the afternoon of the 2nd, was on IV’s for two days and died April 4th at the vets.
AND HE GETS THE RECALL TODAY.
I just dont know what to think anymore.
