Communist symbol returns to Russian Army's flag

Russia's Parliament has voted to restore the communist-era hammer and sickle to the official flag of the Russian Army.

It is expect President Vladimir Putin will ratify the move in time for next week's commemorations marking the end of World War II in Europe.

If so, Russians will again have the Soviet version of the victory banner for next week's Victory in Europe parade in Moscow.

For many Russians, especially the elderly, its symbolism is immense.

The red banner, together with the hammer, sickle and a white star, was the one raised on the Reichstag roof on May 1, 1945.

Millions of people all over the world know that photograph, but in Russia its significance is much deeper, with the Soviet victory over fascism in World War II remaining something seen in almost religious terms.

It is NOT true. The matter is NOT about the official flag of Russian Army but on so called “The Victory Banner”. The banner is just for celebration of Victory Day May9.

The officical flag of Russian army is the Tricolor.

The goose stepping Russians military men makes them look like the same Nazi enemy Stalin's Russia entered into that appalling, infamous, stab-in-the-back for Finland, Poland & the Baltic states -- 'mutual defense pact'(between Nazi Germany's 3rd Reich & Communist Russia's Bolshevik Empire) which backfired on Stalin Red Empire resulting in millions slaughtered by the Nazi SS and the Russian NKVD Evil lashing out against evil.

Russian NKVD Officers from the 37th NKVD Border Guard Regiment circa 1941: NKVD Border units would be 10-20 kilometers behind the frontlines fulfilling the role of Gendarmerie or Provost Marshall with savage orders directed not at the enemy but at regular Red Army troops! The orders included firing directly into groups of conscripted 'Red' soldiers to 'encourage the troops' to 'fight the enemy - or die! What a barbaric county!

If Hitler's Nazi gangsters did not stab Stalin in the back, Stalin & his Kremlin henchmen (those not murdered) had every intention of invading westward, as in all of Poland, then Nazi Germany & on & on.

Soviet WWII Military Losses Estimated At Nearly 9 Million

May 8th, 2007 -- Russia has raised its estimate for the number of Soviet troops killed in World War II to 8.86 million.

The announced was made to the daily "Gazeta" by General Aleksandr Kirilin, director of the armed forces' commemorative center.

The paper says the figure represents an increase of 200,000 over an estimate issued by the Defense Ministry in 1993.

Estimates put at more than 25 million the total number of Soviet civilian and military war dead.

Several European states are commemorating the end of the war today, but in Russia celebrations are held on May 9.
