Republican Presidential Candidate Debate #1 Reagan Library 05/03/07 - Official Discussion Thread
The debate will take place at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, and will air live on MSNBC from 8:00 to 9:30 pm (ET) and stream live on MSNBC.com and politico.com and will include audience questions gathered on politico.com.
That’s the first time I noticed him, too. Yes, he does look too much like presidential timber, a great way to put it, lol!
WARNING: Ron Paul is in these debates just to get exposure. He is going to bolt the GOP and run on the Constitution Party ballot line beginning sometime late in 2007.
This strategy by the Constitution Party was privately discussed among the senior CP leadership before the 2004 election. But Peroutka (CP ‘04 nominee) could not do it because he couldn’t have gotten any traction running against GWB in ‘04. 2008 is a highly different story.
The GOP should kick Ron Paul out of the debates right now. He is going to try to split conservatives in ‘08, which is the only way Hillary gets elected.
At the very least, every candidate in the debates MUST be required to commit their support for whoever the GOP nominates, period. Ron Paul is a trojan horse. Get rid of him now.
I thought McCain was very good. I’d vote for him.
Very true, excellent point.
“I am convinced that Mitt is pro-life, regardless of what he may or may not have been years ago.”
He did seem genuine and very pro family. I loved his answer about Clinton coming back to the WhiteHouse. “Are you crazy” or something ike that.
He will be formidable, to anybody in this race and he has lots of money coming in.
Judging by the typical level of commentary on YouTube, yes, it is.
Romney is a good guy, he will make a good President.
Agreed
Yes and no.
It would have been great to see Fred T and Newt on stage. Then instead of 10 candidates, there would have been 11 or 12 to keep up with. WOW Frankly, 10 was too many. Although it was fun to watch. I don’t like Chris Matthews but I thought he did a good job tonight.
“Ill take your word before yours.”
Thank you.
Out of all my posts in favor of Hunter and critical of Romney, why do some people pick out the one post where I give Romney the barest, teeny-tiniest compliment...?
Look at my posts, SoCalPol, you don’t need to convince me...:)
Of the big three, I much prefer Romney.
On their merits, I like Romney, Hunter, and Gilmore. I may have overlooked some others because of the environment: rushed answers and choppy small video on my computer. The only way I could watch was via Politico.com.
Ah feel Yar pain ;0)
I know that is VERY late to this issue in this day and time. But I think that's what he said - but maybe not.
I'd be very comfortable with a Romney presidency and I think I'd be pleasantly suprised too.

Keep it up. You’re just asking for trouble. ;^)
Wouldn’t be a bad ticket those two. :<)
sheesh - changed his MIND not his MINE.....sorry screen getting fuzzy and I am getting sleepy - no excuse.
LOL, maybe you don't like yourself?
Oh come on. Now I've heard everything. Romney, a man of faith with a large family and in a long, faithful marriage, a Northeast metrosexual?
