LOL! They've wasted half a year on a symbolic gesture to their kook base that will never become law. That's how smart the Democrats are.

Sen Thompson’s statement about them being deeply embedded with the MoveOn.Org crowd is a simple truth. The fact that they even took a vote - to get on record twice - shows that they are insulated from reality.

Do you know much different this than the original vote? It seems that there were some pick ups on the yea side to over turn the veto.

Benchmarks without teeth are a ‘conversation’, Nance? How about a set withdrawal date being an encouragement to the bad guys who don’t want the coalition to succeed? You are an idiot!
And Mr. Biden, how’s that ‘shoving this down Bush’s throat’ thing working out?

Where are all those folks that were pissed off when the Republicans were in office and did not pass that Nuclear Option. We’ll boy would we be in deep crap had that been passed. Even if they were inept, I am greatful for that.

The problem is the President has an unfortunate habit of winning a fight, then trying for the umpteenth time to ‘make nice’ with the Democrats.
I sincerely hope he doesn’t follow that particular ‘failed strategy’ again this time.

Armed Services Committee Chairman Sen. Carl Levin, D-Michigan, said Wednesday that Bush vetoed the will of the American people expressed in Novembers elections. Based on the President's official veto signing statement, it is the Democrats who acted against the "will of the people" from the 2004 election - in which a president was chosen, and it was not Congress - by sending this POS pork laden surrender bill to President Bush in the first place.

Media here said the vote was “just short of the 2/3rds needed”. Fell farther short than that.

It’s a good thing for the surrender wing of the Congress that the vote was taken today. They were bound to be getting more and more venom from those of us that were angry about their antics to begin with, and there would have been even more of their lot to abandon the surrender monkey wing by next week.

I sent GrannyNanny a “Mission Accomplished” e-mail, congratulating the Democrat Party on their support for the Moveon loonies and the terrorists, and urging them to keep up their efforts to make Republicans look good.

222-203 to override. Far short of what was needed.Did anyone switch positions?
To: weegee
Media here said the vote was just short of the 2/3rds needed. Fell farther short than that. According to my calculations, the override number would be 290. They only got 218 on the original approval vote.

Yep. The Democrats could muster only 218 - the bare majority of the House for their Cut N Run bill. They needed 290 votes to override. They were nowhere near that and made no attempt to obtain Republican support for their plan. This is a reality check to arrogant libs.
