WASHINGTON -- The film features grainy footage and dramatic music, presenting itself as a stark look at the way fundamentalist Muslims in America and Europe crush dissent by their more moderate co-religionists.
But the very production of "Islam vs. Islamists: Voices From the Muslim Center" has highlighted sharply different views about the state of Islam in the United States and showcased how intensely sensitive that subject remains. PBS, which commissioned the project, is delaying airing the film after protests that it is anti-Muslim. Now its creators are launching a public campaign against PBS to get it shown.

"Islam vs. Islamists" follows the efforts of socially liberal Muslims in America and Europe to reclaim their religion from political extremism by speaking out against ultra-conservative imams.
But the film never made it into the initial lineup of 11 shows that aired recently. A film about widespread discrimination against Muslims, "The Muslim Americans," did air as part of the series.
The producers and subjects of the "Islam vs. Islamists" film, who began to show it in private screenings last week, say that PBS demanded what the producers saw as unrealistic editorial changes after the series' advisers, acting on criticism from such Muslim groups as the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Nation of Islam, claimed the documentary unfairly portrayed Muslim religious leaders. They say their experience with PBS proves the point of their film: that moderate Muslims have no platform from which to criticize extremists in their own religion.
"I can't see what they object to, except that they don't want to see the true plight against modern-day Muslims," said Hedieh Mirahmadi, a representative of a moderate imam who spoke at a screening in Washington that was organized by the film's producers.

PBS will eventually air it at some LOW ratings hour with HUGE disclaimers before during and after, if not a kill disclaimer watermark.
THEN they will have an equally long panel discussion of CAIR frauds, palestinians who will blame israel, and a democrat who will blame Bush, perhaps even jimmy “the liar” carter after the documentary in the interest of “balance.”
The pannel discussion will be rebroadcast the documentary will never again see the light of day.
Which proves that liberals are easily terrorized and are too cowardly to stand up to the bully islam.
The Partisan Broadcast System up and running as usual.
and we fund it.
If they want to be “intensely sensitive” about the film, let them do it in their native country. They don’t control what is shown or not shown in our country. When they claim freedom of religion they contradict themselves. They say that being muslim is a way of life, not a religion. I say it is a cult and should be banned from this country. If it is a religion, then it needs to be seperated from our government as our Constitution states. Keep it totally away from our law making process.
Islamic supremacists expect the rest of the world to submit to Islam. Our “freedom of speech” can be considered blasphemy and even Bill Clinton has gone on record encouraging this take when he said that the cartoonists should have been prosecuted for their actions.
Do you know anything about who made this? Because from your reply it appears you don’t.

I would be very interested in a documentary showing what cult deprogramers have discovered in attempts (if any) to deprogram American converts to islam.....
The more CAIR and PBS resist showing them it just brings more publicity.
If they just let it be shown without complaints it would drown under the flood of MSM tripe that promotes the islamist/liberal view.
The powers that be at PBS think CAIR and the Nation of Islam are moderate groups??
I saw an episode of America at a Crossroads where the entirity of controversy about CAIR was dismissed as the grumblings from a small group of conservative and pro-Israeli critics and an outright denial of any terrorist links to CAIR.
In Houston there were 2 “community affairs” programs that were run alongside the America at a Crossroads series, The Community and something else.
I caught The Community and the muslim guests did acknowledge radicalism in muslim organizations and some mosques and the need to convince young muslims that isn’t the way to go. BUT the discussion was in vague terms without any examples of extremism in America and speaking out to denounce explicit wrongs.
It’s like denouncing the KKK without mentioning them by name or even what wrongs they do or what they stand for/against.
Extremely well put, nail on the head BUMP
And they (the Islamists) will end up just like the KKK. Sitting off in the corner muttering to themselves.
you can bet if this was an antu-i-christian film, it would have been on the air in a second...
anti-christian...sorry...
I guess it didn't turn out the way PBS wanted it.
Oh, you mean a Bill Moyers piece.
