Gay couple handed one euro fine (staged mock wedding to protest Catholic Church's homophobia)

A FRENCH gay group has been ordered to pay one euro in damages to Notre Dame cathedral in Paris for staging a mock "gay wedding" to protest against what it called the Catholic Church's homophobia.

The Paris court that issued the ruling said the group, Act Up Paris, had violated the freedom of religion by staging the fake ceremony without permission from the cathedral.

“The provocative act of June 2005 and the unrest it caused shocked many people of different faiths, whether believers or not, both in France and beyond,” the Paris archdiocese said.

Act Up Paris said it was considering appealing against the decision.

In the mock wedding, a man dressed as a priest and a lesbian couple - both dressed in white wedding dresses - walked up the cathedral's main aisle and mimicked a wedding ritual while about 20 activists distributed flyers denouncing the Church.

Tourists looked on in amazement as the two women exchanged rings and kissed.

Some activists chanted: “Benedict XVI is a homophobe and an accomplice to AIDS”.

From the infamous 1989 "Stop the Church" demo at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York. ACT UP people participated in the Mass until Communion at which time they lay across the aisle to try to prevent worshippers from receiving. Some chained themselves to pews.

Others received the Eucharist in their hand and then brought it outside to the assembled activists, tearing the Host to piece and stomping on it, (and in another case spitting out the Host) to wild cheers.

Outside was the usual political theater, gays dressed as priests simulating sodomy against gays dressed as nuns, signs saying, “Get over it, Mary!” And “Cardinal O’ Connor is a fat cannible in a dress.”

Cardinal O’ Connor simply asked the worshippers to pray for these people and that no one would get hurt.

Absolutely correct. A promiscuous lifestyle of sticking your member in any available hole had nothing to do with it. It was that darn's Pope's fault. Benedict has had over a year to wipe out AIDS and hasn't yet.

But, in fine European tradition, the group failed to pay the taxes on the one euro and were subseqently sentenced to 30 years in prison.

If people can’t recognize it, it wasn’t done correctly. Unfortunely, no matter how obvious it is made, there are usually a few.

“Homophobia”? No, I am not afraid of them. I ignore them. Because they aren’t as important as they think they are. And they will vanish from the face of the Earth sooner than they think, of their accord.

Some activists chanted: “Benedict XVI is a homophobe and an accomplice to AIDS”.

So these rump ranger activists -- whose preferred choice of lascivious activity is the PRIMARY cause of the spread of AIDS -- accuse a religious leader who advocates behavior that is the absolute best way of avoiding AIDS of being an "accomplice to AIDS".

Typical tactic of those who are GUILTY - accuse their opposition of what they themselves are or are doing.
