ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) -- A candidate for Southern Oregon University student body president has admitted she was lying when she claimed she had a cousin who was killed in the Virginia Tech shootings.
Brandi Freeman spoke at a candlelight vigil held by students at the university campus in Ashland last night.
With tears streaming down her face, she had claimed she had lost her cousin in the shootings that left 33 dead at Virginia Tech.
By today, Freeman admitted to making up the story to appeal to voters for the student body election next week. She also said she suffers from bipolar disorder.
Freeman is a dean's list student and a member of the student senate. But she said she'll likely drop out of the student body elections because of her actions.
Hey...have you seen that picture of her?
Obviously, she is NOT GUILTY!
Off sarcasm.
See my grief and tears?
Give my your sympathy and compassion.
I'm a victim and I need your vote.
You think?
Well that's Ashland for you. I haven't visited there in over 20 years and from the sound of things I have no reason to return. If the dream of a State of Jefferson is ever realized what are they going to do with that place?
And what about the bipolar disorder thing? Is she or isn't she? After the short lived jihad at VaTech by a leftist and once committed loon, the talk this week has included some debate about whether government has enough power to lock up crazy people. Should her circumstances not be thoroughly investigated by SOSC, in light of that revelation?
LOL - that was a great song "The sailors said"
Sadly, Dave, looks like we’ll all have to move way east of I-5 to find any sanity. The libs are taking over here on the Coast, as well.
I'm sure they have their own.
Where on the coast are you? I lived in Florence from ‘64 to ‘79 and I have business contacts all over the south coast.
We’re in Lincoln City - Gamblers’ Mecca ;-)
There will be an opening for a lying reporter soon in the North Texas area. Brandi should send her resume to replace the liar mentioned in this link:

Elizabeth Albanese may be one of the most honored journalists in North Texas. Or she could be at the center of one of its biggest media scandals.
The organization she led until last month, the Press Club of Dallas, is investigating whether she truly earned the four awards she won in a contest for which she helped arrange the judging.
Documents obtained by The Dallas Morning News show that Ms. Albanese has a criminal record under the name Lisa Albanese centered on allegations of theft. Former co-workers described a history of spinning lies. She also has a record of mental illness and delusional behavior.
“It’s incredible,” said the Press Club of Dallas Foundation’s president, Rand LaVonn, when told of The News’ findings. “I’m stunned.”
Ms. Albanese, in an interview with The News, at first said she was the victim of mistaken identity that she had no criminal record.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about these are very odd questions,” she said.
But an hour later, she called The News back and acknowledged that Lisa and Elizabeth Albanese are, in fact, one and the same. But she believes that she should not be judged for her past.
“I did have some problems when I was a kid in Virginia,” she said. “I got myself into some trouble. I did the things I needed to do I paid my fines.”
“I told the newsroom, ‘I don’t believe anything she says unless I’ve seen it with my own eyes,’ “ said John Horan Jr., her former editor at a small newspaper in northern Virginia. “ ‘Check everything out, because she has a very active imagination.’ “
By today, Freeman admitted to making up the story to appeal to voters for the student body election next week.
A Hillary Clinton clone.”
I have a relative by marriage who is bi-polar.
She cannot consistantly make PBJ sandwiches.
No one with that disorder needs to be running anything.
Wow - Ms. Albanese has a good chance of being hired by Dan Rather in his new gig. BTW - has anyone heard from good ‘ol Dan in his new gig?
Please don't move to Eastern Oregon and inflate our real estate prices!
Um, when's the last time you guys visited the state legislature and lobbied for common sense?
Thanks for the information. Think of all the other stories that are being thrown around out there that aren’t exactly true but that, because if lack of clarification, the average voter believes. Whew!
above post “if”=of
Let me guess...you learned your logic in the American school system? ;-)
Just because your relative's unable to do something doesn't mean all people with BPD are the same. That's as illogical as saying, "I knew someone who was dead because he had cancer, so Fred Thompson can't run for president because he's a corpse." :-)
“left wing liberal politician, a mentally ill liar”
You repeat yourself.
Making up a story? Making excuses for lying about it? She’s learned her politics well.
