Muslim student gives life to save others in V Tech killings
Sky News ^ | Friday 20th April 2007 | Sky News

A survivor of the Virginia Tech massacre has been describing how a colleague died to protect others. Although badly injured, graduate student Waleed Shalaan distracted gunman Cho Seung-Hui to save another person from his bullets.

Waleed saved another student's life. The surviving student, who wishes to remain anonymous, told of Waleed's heroics through an email to his supervisor.

He describes how he was left uninjured after Cho's initial round of shots.

Meanwhile, Waleed had been wounded but was still alive.

However, when Cho later returned to the classroom to inspect for signs of life among his victims, the surviving student struggled to remain calm.

He believes he would have been shot dead were it not for Waleed's "protective movement" that distracted the gunman.

Cho turned and shot Waleed for a second time, killing him, before leaving the classroom.

Randy Dymond, a civil engineering professor, has said the student asked to him to tell the tale "so that the family of Waleed understands the sacrifice."

Shaalan's mother broke down when she heard Mr Dymond's account.

"He was trying to save someone else," she said repeatedly.

Dymond said Shaalan's body was taken to a Blacksburg mosque so classmates, teachers and friends could say goodbye before he was sent to Egypt for burial.'

I’m reading a book called “The War Against the Jews; 1933-1945”.

Europe in general, and Germany in particular, held a vision of Jews as a whole that became more and more negative as the years and decades went on. This German anti-semetism dated back to the 1700’s and grew to the point where all Jews were viewed as filthy vermin, which helps explain how a monster like Hitler could come to power and do what he did with the full support of his country.

What happened in Germany could happen again to another group of people, even here in the US, as long as there are people like you who allow hate to override their conscience.

The guy gave his life to save someone else’s. Muslim or not, he’s a good guy as far as I’m concerned. You however, should really look into your heart and think about what’s happening in it.

I’ve checked out the links now and I have to agree. The “hero” claim is BS.

There is no real evidence that this Muslim guy was a “hero” in any way at all. His movement certainly may have “distracted” the murderer, but there is NO indication that the Muslim did it consciously to “save” anyone’s life.

This smacks of another Muslim student trying to make a fake story to turn another Muslim into some sort of hero to get Muslims in the news in a positive light.

And the MSM gladly eat it up.

The story does not pass the smell test.

...oh, and THAT is why remain anonymous. The story teller doesn’t want to be discovered as a fabricator.

(It all about diversity)

No, its all about making the sacrifice of JEWISH holocast survivor, Professor Livou Librescu, less or even null and void.

Why wait several days before this is mentioned?

If this actually happened wouldnt the unnamed student have proclaimed it on Monday, and made sure MSM knew about it?

Shaalan was killed while trying to save another student in a classroom building, The New York Times [NYT] reported on its Web site Thursday, citing Randy Dymond, a civil engineering professor.

When Cho noticed the other student, Shaalan made a move to distract him and was shot a second time, Dymond told the Times. The other student believes Shaalan purposely distracted Cho to save him, Dymond said.

“He believes he would have been shot dead were it not for Waleed’s “protective movement” that distracted the gunman.”

What was the “protective movement”?

The student was badly wounded. Could a involuntary movement have been taken as a delibarate act to distract the killer?

Maybe I’m just old and cynical and suspicous....

Waleed Mohammed Shaalan called home to say he would visit Egypt next month. He was going to pick up his wife and 15-month-old son and bring them back to the United States.

His wife Amira, 28, is also an engineer, Al-Ahram newspaper reported. Shaalan planned to bring Amira and his son, Khaled, to Virginia in May, his parents said.

There goes someone who could have eventually stood out as a leader for the Muslim community. The cost of life from this monster and his rampage continues to climb.
