Va. Tech Gunman Named
By Michael Shear and Debbi Wilgoren Washington Post Staff Writers Tuesday, April 17, 2007; 9:36 AM
Virginia Tech officials today identified the Virginia Tech student who killed 32 people and then himself on the Blacksburg campus yesterday as 23-year-old Cho Seung-Hui of Centreville.
Cho was a South Korean native who had immigrated to this country, the university announced on its Web site this morning. He was a senior majoring in English, and lived in a dorm on campus, officials said.

I think that is why the media is calling this the WORST SHOOTING, as opposed to the worst killing or bombing...
Yeah, a completely-forgotten incident. Guy was upset at local property taxes (though I'm sure videogames and speed metal were more important causes.)
Veri funny 2banana
The ony way this could have been prevented (not stopped in the act) is if a friend or family member had some inkling this guy was so upset. Maybe there were signs—maybe not.
Where did he learn to shoot this well? Handgunning isnt a natural act and its pretty clear he was a good shot. I doubt he acquired this level of skill in a couple of weeks.
“I just got to work and caught a glimpse of the news in the cafeteria. Some kid talking about how Shooter just walked up to his victims and shot them point blank in the head, one by one. Not much skill required to do that, just a very compliant herd.”
If that were the actual case, there would be fifty or more dead, rather than 31, don’t you think?
And if our young adults just stand there as somebody walks up and begins shooting their friends and classmates...God help the Republic.
OMG, there is some serious insanity out there.
OK I’m confused...?
Why is he described as “Cho Seung-Hui, 23, a senior from South Korea” - and also reports as of last night stating his arrival on a “student visa” in Aug of 2006 - etc if in fact he’s been in the US for the past 15 years...?
Have there been any more reports regarding a girlfriend? The witnesses I see on tv are saying the killer was silent. What about a girl friend???????
Yes, its ‘possible’ after a few hundred rounds.
I know that after I’ve fired the first hundred, my hand gets tired, my ears are hurting from the protectors, and I still have to clean the guns....
Give me some examples to back your claim.
This one is THE largest shooting incident in our nation’s history. Over 50 casualties in just a short while, with over 50% of the victims listed as killed. Usually, even in WAR, it is the other way around.
Care to elaborate as to why someone with a few days of supposed self training, can achieve such a high ratio?
Those people are mentally unstable
And what's even scarier is .. these are the same people the Dem Party is listening to
Why not 1,000?
And if our young adults just stand there as somebody walks up and begins shooting their friends and classmates...God help the Republic.
My sentiments exactly. Like I said yesterday, we need to amend the "fight or flight" instinct to "fight, flight, or deer-in-the-headlight".
Yes, but at 24 years of age, as a four year senior at VT, which, if he was at the University for four years, would place him at 20 years of age when he got in there to study. It is less likely he had any ROK Army, etc. training, though, with this timeline.
It takes only a few seconds to read what you’ve typed before you post it. Also, headlines are to be posted verbatim from the source.
You think a student’s backpack is bad? Never ever look through an instructor’s backpack...it would scare you....
And my thoughts go out to you, also. You lost some friends and acquaintances yesterday. Thank you so much for providing the first hand information you did while the event was happening. Please take care.

Sorry Mo1, but these are the same people that the majority of the Nation are listening to these days.
I read it on Laz’s link—higher up this thread. He caught her in bed with a guy or with him in her room, or just suspected it. He went to Norris to find the guy.
Rumors fly, but it makes some sense.
Who claimed he only practiced for "a few days?"
Could well turn out the guy had his standard 2 years in the ROK military.
What I find ridiculous is the general assertion I'm seeing that shooting a lot of people at close range in a confined space with a handgun and thinking to chain the doors shut from inside to do so requires something like having been a Navy SEAL for years.
