It dawns on me that a fatal head wound which caused a major amount of damage to the face would likely exit the front of the head, not enter it.

That's bothered me, too.

Yes, there have been some. Islam is a problem in China, but they crush it when it happens and don’t flash word of it around the world. But, yes, it’s a problem.

It is a tragedy for people who know victims, or know victim’s families. Not for “Virginia”, Virginia is just the state in which the shooting occured. It no more effects “Virginia” than any other state, except that more of the victims are going to have family in our state and they of course are impacted.

I am startled by the accuracy of this killer. He must have had training and some impetus beyond or in addition to rage-clouded revenge. There’s something monsterous about this incident.

Call him the " mass murderer","The killer"!

Because it's not very PC

Some can't come to terms with the fact that an actual person did all these killings

By calling him a gun man .. they can put part of the blame the gun

I have to wonder if maybe all or part of the reason more information is not coming out is that they think someone (quite possibly still on campus) may have helped him hide during the 2 hour period between shootings, and they are still trying to figure out where he was and what he did in that two hour period.

Another possibility for delaying information could be fear of reprisals, depending on who he is.

As you say, this certainly does not seem like his intent was simply to take out the girlfriend.

We don’t have that many now, although in the last decade it does SEEM there are more, and it is rational to explore whether our “self-esteem” focus, our penchant for violent movies and video games, our love of abortion, and/or other factors have contributed to the “rise”, assuming it isn’t just a statistical anomaly.

On the other hand, as others have pointed out this isn’t the biggest number of deaths, that was back in the 1920s, when someone blew up a school. So while that wasn’t a “mass shooting”, it was a mass murder and it was more than 30 years ago.

And I bet that, at the end of this year, the statistics will still show kids are safer on a college campus than elsewhere (maybe not, I know statistics show kids are safer in primary/secondary schools than when they are out for the day, even with the occasional shooting).

I have been thinking since yesterday that these school shootings are cropping up more and more often as we as a nation move further away from God.

The number of students shot in school has been steadily dropping, actually.

High fatality count may be due to the refusal of the police to enter the building.

The cops waited -three hours- to get inside Columbine. Despite desperate cell phone calls from inside.

27 shots yesterday and did you see one LEO rush the building?

There, I said it........

Years ago, my beautiful son disappeared from the bus stop.

Of course I went completely out of my mind. I called the school to find out if he was there, since another child was missing, too.

The asst principal told me “We be lookin’ for him”.

I learned from elsewhere that the entire bus was missing.

As I said I’m hanging up and calling the State Police, he encouraged me NOT to do that.

“Tough” was my response.

The police found the bus and all were accounted for.

I called the school and told them. I was put on hold and before I could speak to the same man again, he came on and began to tell me that HE had found them and repeated back to me the info that I just gave them.

The man is now the Director of Education in the school district.

Comforting?

There’s just no way to speculate on any of this until the perp is publicly identified. The paucity of information is troubling. So much bad info is floating around at this point, but the Asian angle seems to have the most steam behind it. The refusal to identify - if indeed the assailant is dead - may have to do with a search for accomplices. But that’s kind of nutty, too. Everyone knows about it, and if he had help, they’re long gone. Revealing his name won’t spoil any surprises.

That being the case, the delay must be related to the perp’s ethnic/religious profile. If it’s not, then the withholding of information almost 24 hours after the fact is nothing short of scandalous.
