Gunman on Campus; Stay inside your building, away from windows; Shooting incident at West Ambler Johnston Hall

I think this killer was a highly trained soldier.
I hate it when they talk about testing the security by calling in bomb threats. We have had a rash of bomb threats in our schools here in Maine.
What’s the coincidence?
Hmmmmmm . . . not an exclusively individual thing . . . at least suppliers helping the guy arm.
The thicken plots.
I’m still learning the workings of this forum (I don’t know how to reply to mail messages yet, lol and not sure where they come from either).
I was replying to a post about this situation and went off on a tangent about how we’ve been teaching our children to not fight back, against everything it seems. I probably didn’t state what I meant accurately.
But that was my thought - why don’t we fight back more? I sit here safe at my computer today, too, so like you, I’m not judging anyone, just questioning what we’ve been teaching all these years. I like to think I’m more of a fighter, I know I’m a fighter but not in this particular instance per se, but I know I’ve fought back on a few occasions. I hope I’d fight when it really counted.
It brings me back to the whole Imus/Rutgers thing. How could academic scholar/athletes with so much going for them allow some stupid radio personality ruin their day, let alone their sense of self worth? I’d be damned before I allowed someone that power over me.
It all just makes me question what we’re teaching our children today and how we keep lowering the age of adulthood and responsibility. We’re raising a country of wussies, imo.

I can handle disagreements. Pompous assholes not so much. bu bye.
I’m so sorry to hear that. Prayers for Ryan, his family and friends, you and the Circle K club members.
It would seem like all the next of kin would have been notified. If your child was unaccounted for and you had gone to the police, wouldn’t the police have been able to ID the dead by now, especially if they knew who were missing?
It’s not like 9/11 where there were no bodies, they have bodies, they have families missing children...I feel for those who are waiting for news.
Language, language, luv. Moderators must be overwhelmed tonight.
No one — adult or otherwise — has a right to carry where guns are prohibited, like in schools and churches.
What happened today is about evil, not about guns. If this guy didn’t have firearms, he could have used explosives or any number of other methods to kill.
You really should stfu. You don’t know what you are talking about.
I presume they have conscription in China. At 24 he could be ex-PRA, but all that means is he’s had Army training. You don’t really need that level of training for what he did.
Thank you for raising such fine sons. I hope you realize how much we appreciate your sacrifice. Our prayers are with you and them.

Oh yeah, HIGHLY controlled, even in the field. Still, our guys and gals (teenage soldiers) are the best on the planet.
Having lived in college dorms and knowing what goes on there Thursday through Sunday nights, I wouldnt really want any weapons around.
I understand your reluctance and accept and respect your feelings, but emotion aside, there are RAs, Grad students, non-traditional older students like me, etc, that are very responsible, law abiding citizens. If I saw you getting attacked or raped (yes, males get raped too), I would come to your defense if I were not legally disarmed.
You can seek training for self defense and hopefully become a true, dutiful citizen who carries a firearm for self defense of yourself and innocent others, or
you can spend the rest of your life wondering what you could have done to stop/mitigate a violent attack.
It is sad today that so many people are willing to just walk by and let evil exist.
I refuse to do so! Godspeed and keep the grades up!
Thanks. It’s Al Barghouti on some sites, and Albarghouti on others. Probably a common name in Palestine, but since Blitzer identified him as being from a “well known” family, it just got me thinking.
My God. How horrible not knowing at this late hour. May God Bless them all and provide some comfort.
"Call BS all you like, but I just spent the last several hours with 3 ATF agents. I saw the shooter's picture. I know his name and home address. I also know that he used a Glock 19 and a Walther P-22. The serial number was ground off the Glock. Why would he do that and still keep the receipt in his pocket from when he bought the gun? ATF told me that they are going to keep this low-key and not report this to the tv news. However, they cautioned that it will leak out eventually, and that I should be ready to deal with CNN, FOX, etc. My 32 camera surveillance system recorded the event 35 days ago. This is a digital system that only keeps the video for 35 days. We got lucky. By the way, the paperwork for Mr. Cho was perfect, thank God."
