THANK YOU!
Care to share that with morons here that lack reading and comprehension skills?
Where my daughter goes to school, it’s a private school, NO SHORTS are allowed. No bare midriffs, no boobs, cleavage,or bare backs are allowed on “dress down days”.
Her uniform has to be one inch BELOW the knee with a certain color blouse or turtle neck sweater. Insignia MUST be on the jumper and on the navy sweater made ONLY by FLynn O’Hara. The school emblem MUST be on the left hand side of the jumper or sweater. No sneakers with balls in them or removed and it goes on and on.
Yeah, we’re used to rules and we FOLLOW them. Then we are NOT embarrassed. kids FOCUS on what they are there for - TO LEARN. When she gets older and they have a formal - then we’ll follow the rules for that which are in essence the SAME - NO REVEALING CLOTHES.
I don’t feel sorry for these girls. They KNEW what they were doing. They LOST the gamble. Some changed and attended the Prom - stubborn ones lost big time. These girls have NO SHAME - it’s ALL ABOUT THEM and now you’re supposed to feel sorry for them - fat chance. They blew it.
For the love of G*d, put a warning on that! I was planning on eating some time this week and I am not sure when the nausea will go away!
Dang it, I didn’t get no pics. Do I haffa come over there and whup you up side the haid?
(Link didn’t work or pics not working at the site)
I did read the whole thing. So how did Gardner look at a photo of a HALTER style dress, which clearly exposes the ENTIRE back and tell the student it was fine? It’s perfectly reasonable for students and parents to assume that the dress restrictions for the prom are not the same as those for everyday school clothes, ESPECIALLY when a school official looks at a picture of a dress which obviously doesn’t come anywhere near complying with the printed dress code and says it’s okay for the prom.
I agree. They look nice, and they are certainly not hanging out of their dresses. I see much worse at the grocery store in terms of revealing clothing. It’s a shame those girls had their prom ruined by a busybody.
"Cover those dirty pillows!"
A PICTURE is not the same as wearing it PLUS the “picture” didn’t show the back.
You’re right with this:
“obviously doesnt come anywhere near complying with the printed dress code and says its okay for the prom.”
And THAT is why they were turned away.
Perhaps you finally understand?
Never mind. You just like to argue and IGNORE the RULES that are in WRITING that BOTH, parents and kids HAVE in thier little handbooks that PARENTS signed.
I have two daughters, one has always had large breasts. It was always difficult to buy any kind of clothes for her for that reason.
My wife and daughter both tell me that they have run into plenty of the male gender who don’t look them in the eye when speaking to them, no matter what they are wearing.
I agree with you that the dresses shown look ok.
I bet the counselor who turned them away is not amply endowed.
We had to do that, too — kneel and the hem had to touch the floor. Such sniveling at this prom, honestly. “I was embarassed.” That is appropriate.
After being sent home a few times(and catching pure hell from my mom) we figured a way around that morning inspection pass.
Second hour, they didn't pay attention to us any more as long as it wasn't a micro-mini. We'd roll our skirts up at the waist and be on our way. I don't think the male teachers minded our short skirts too much because they never said anything. lol
I like those prom dresses in this article.
A halter dress is a halter dress, and it’s obvious from a photo of the front that it’s a halter dress. And even if it wasn’t obvious, how can a school official look at a picture of a dress in which there’s no way to tell what the back looks like, and tell the student it’s okay, if it has to comply with a written rule that says it can’t expose the back?
And I guarantee that the vast majority of dresses on the girls who WERE admitted showed a good deal of exposed “back” and “chest”. These are PROM dresses. The rule doesn’t state how many square inches of back, or of chest, may be shown, even though clearly a lot more than zero is acceptable. It is therefore legally unenforceable due to vagueness. You can be sure there are other unwritten exceptions to the general dress code. E.g. no student is going to get turned away from participating in a school swim meet for wearing a modest bathing suit, even though a similar outfit would be clearly unacceptable for class.
One more time: This is a PUBLIC school. It is not at liberty to enforce rules capriciously, or to deny students admission to school-related events (in this case paid for largely, if not entirely, by the students and their parents) based on rules that no one can pin down the details of.
Bingo! I think you’ve gotten to the root of the matter!
I think these young ladies look perfectly dressed for an evening formal occasion.
I just hope they didn’t ruin the outfit by wearing those ridiculous flip-flop shoes.
Regards,
You are an evil, evil person.
Oh great now I gotta go find a flaming stick and poke my eyes out. Do you know how much time that is gonna waste???
The two teens in the picture are dressed quite appropriately. School officials totally overreacted.

I think I’ll wait to hear what the other 23 were wearing before authoritatively stating the officials “totally over-reacted.”
A picture of a dress would not, I imagine, look quite the same as it would when someone is acutally WEARING it, esp if you're trying to fit 10 lbs of s**t into a 5 lb bag.
