A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.
Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
I received this in my email June 10th, 2006 - the author is unknown. I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

This guy of mine didn't live that long, but his daughter lived longer. There's tons of good in them.

Sunday we are to expect 4 to 5 inches of rain, more rain Monday, and rain mixed with snow or snow Tuesday and Wednesday. That’s what I read earlier today.
This is too weird! Already this April we've gotten more snow than all winter.

At the moment I have four cats. Word must have gotten out into the woods when I adopted one at the ASPCA because four years later, I took in the third stray. Two of the four are longhaired black cats. Maybe black cats wander more than others, I don’t know.
The shorthaired black cat in the window I posted back there was part siamese.

My son loves black cats. He did have two and one of them “Kitty” had to put down about two years ago. This one that I keep as I told you is 16 and her name is Hobbit! I am sure Barry already feels the pain of her passing. We sure get attached to our sweet little creatures, don’t we?

Good Saturday morning all!
Last night our tornado warning siren went off, that was scary, we did have a tornado do damage in Ft Worth TX area in Haltham City.
But as quick as the storm hit us it moved on real fast.
Haven’t heard what to expect today yet.

Seeking Immortality
READ: 2 Corinthians 5:1-8
In this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven. 2 Corinthians 5:2
At least a dozen multimillionaires have left money to themselves in hope of being brought back to life. These immortality seekers have arranged to be cryogenically frozen after death, reports The Wall Street Journal. Theyve also put their wealth in personal revival trusts, which they believe will be waiting for them when scientists resuscitate them in the future.
Even if resuscitation were possible, to seek eternal life apart from the One who is immortal is to chase an elusive dream.
Paul affirmed that the Lord alone is the source of immortality (1 Tim. 6:16). He is everlasting in His character and actions. For human beings, however, death is universal, inevitable, and ultimately leads to judgment (Heb. 9:27). This is all a result of our sin, and it can be countered only by the redemption through Jesus Christ (John 3:15-16). Through His resurrection, Jesus broke the power of death and showed humanity the way to immortality (2 Tim. 1:10).
Our response to our mortality should not be to preserve our physical bodies through cryogenics, but to be ready for our own death by receiving the gift of eternal life in Jesus.
For Further Thought
You can make sure right now that you have eternal life.
Confess to God that youre a sinner and you believe
Jesus died in your place for forgiveness and eternal life.
Where will you spend eternity?

Wow..It is windy and chilly here today!
I unplugged my computer last night, prepared the tub with pillows and a guest room comforter(as practice if nothing else)..and went to bed early..knowing the sirens would wake me if I dozed off watching TV..No problems here in the Waco area..It had lost it's punch by the time the "line" hit here.I know the DFW area did get hit.
I paid attention when the sirens went off here a few weeks ago..and decided I needed a "get ready" drill to practice..I have everything ready to grab now to head for my interior bathroom in a jiffy. .

Stay safe.

Well, Meg, although you haven’t been seen here since Noon (my time), I trust that you are okay come what may as you seem well-prepared. SoCal is cooler than usual also, slightly above 50 in my neighborhood, with some possible drizzle tomorrow...
Have a lovely Sunday.

Hi The Mayor
Oh no, now you have the snow. They changed our forecast to no snow. Whew. I hope your snow comes and goes quickly. It will probably melt fast. We have flood warning and high winds 35 to 45 mph and gusts up to 60 mph. We’ll see what the day brings. We had just put out our summer umbrellas, cushions etc. Now we just put away our summer umbrellas cushions etc. ;) LOL!
