It was just announced on the "Mike and the Mad Dog Show" on WFAN (Imus's home base): Imus is out of a job on radio as well.
He will not even be on the air tomorrow.
Very nice piece of work. I am selective in my larceny.
Dixie Chicks - Grass roots effort to boycott their product.
Imus - Professional Victim's Rights activists take up the cause before public sentiment could even be assessed and in fact were the cause of the public becoming aware of it.
Dixie Chicks - the campaign consists of e-mail chains, phone calls to radio stations and blogs/internet forums.
Imus - The MSM follows the lead of the Prof. VR activists and carries their water on air 24/7.
Dixie Chicks - Never apologize and subsequently reinforce their original offensive remarks with stronger ones.
Imus - Apologizes repeatedly and acquiesces to every demand from the Prof. VR activists.
Dixie Chicks - Grass roots critics are lambasted and ridiculed by the MSM.
Imus - NBC/MSNBC execs and CBS execs agree to meet with Prof. VR activists and, in closed door negotiations, immediately submit to their demands.
Dixie Chicks - Lose about 40% of their sales due to individuals choosing not to buy their stuff.
Imus - Immediately loses every contract he has.
Do I think that's just life in the free market? Yes.
Did Imus hoist himself on his own petard? Yes.
Is it fair? Who the heck said life was fair?
Is it just the same as what happened to the Dixie Chicks? ...
A: Because no one wanted to wear the I-DA-HO sash......
Anne Coulter: You two ladies look awfully interesting. Are you Indians?
Woman #1: Yes, I'm a Navajo.
Woman #2: I'm an Arapahoe.
Anne Couter: What a coincidence! I'm a right-wing ho!
(Does this mean Im going to get fired now?)
Relax,, I'm an Ann Coulter Fan...Just Joking...
Yes, she is and they should see right through her. “The Oprah” was supposed to have the Rutgers basketball team on her show this afternoon. I never watch her show but tuned in to see what was being said and they weren’t on. It was some other show, perhaps a re-run about peoples’ livestyles or whatever.
Notice how everyone jumped ship when Barack Hussein Obama came out to call for Imus firing.
If you guys thought the media was in the tank for Kerry, wait till you get a load of what they will do to ensure Obama gets in. Hilary and McCain are aleady finding that out as they have been dropped like a bad habit for Hussein.
I am happy this is happening to Imus. That’s what he gets for dancing on Scooter Libby’s grave.
But its hypocritical to call for Imus to be off the air for hatred, when Bill Maher and Rosie O’Donnell are allowed to spew raging hatred to conservatives and Christians.
Imus pretty much put the Dixie Chicks on the map.
Yes, you will be fired because you said “Indian” instead of Native American.
I haven’t listened to him regularly in several years, but I am 99.9% certain that I heard him say he is half Jewish (although I can’t recall which half). Although I have also heard him say he grew up listening to Christian music, I assumed that was either from the “other half” and/or he grew up in a area of the Country (California and then somewhere in the Southwest) where Christian music dominated the airways. Then again, we are talking about Imus and who knows where the truth begins and ends. If I am wrong, then I apologize.
What I think is that Imus’ only “communist sin” was to make more money out of the “joke” than all the black comedians make by calling each other with the N words all day long and calling white people to manucure their toes on BET.
This was an example of stalinist purge going on. Pathetic. What’s the difference between this and “capitalists killing each other”?
I think you’re vastly overestimating what the Imus demise means for conservative talk radio. Keep in mind that the Imus show hardly registered on the Arbitrons in some markets; so defending that show against this controversy wasn’t worth it from a business standpoint.
That aside, did you notice how quickly liberals pounced on their fellow liberal and demanded that he be fired? Why was that? Well, I think there’s ample proof that the biggest racists in America are on the left and that they carefully mask their racism with statements of tolerance, diversity and political correctness. So when one of their own — Don Imus — inadvertently lifts the mask and shows the true racist face of most leftists, he must be tossed immediately to the lions. Just a theory...
I do like your Free Republic Radio idea!
I’d love to see him trot out the liberal’s favorite lawyer... or the “Dershster”.
Why are so many so upset.
The way I see it another liberal is off the air and it’s great to see libs bash libs
This seems a bit extreme.
I thought a suspension and an apology were enough. I do think Imus made a big mistake by going on Sharpton’s show.
Every conservative host better watch out from now on. This isn’t going to end well.
We’ve now entered the twilight zone.
Like him or not, his response to this whole mess this morning on his show when he lit into CBS radio and MSNBC was on target.
You got it. My thoughts exactly. Who cares and it’s great to see libs going after one of their own.
My bet is he'll end up on Sirius. His old boss runs the show.
