My question: When's the last time this much attention given to the rappers that use similar or worse terms for women? There is definitely a double standard.

Is it just my boob tube, or does MSNBC have the presser on a time delay? It’s coverage seems to be running a few seconds behind the other news nets.

Is absolutely everyone who was offended by Imus going to have a press conference? Who is shocked that he is a jerk? I thought we already knew that.

The thing that is being missed out here is that Coach Summitt of the Lady Vols earned her 7th (SEVENTH) National Championship.
Isn't that the story?
Oh... what? Too positive? No victim?
OK. Let's go back to a joke told about a group of college basketball players for 30 seconds on a radio show. That's a bigger story.

Heard Imus and Bill Maher chatting this morning on the car radio about this whole affair.
Out of NOWHERE, Imus says that George Bush is the worst president ever, and re-emphasises by repeating “EVER”.
Bill Maher agrees whole heartedly and they start bashing Bush. At that point, I punched-in the CD.
Imus is just another liberal suffering from Bush Derangement Synrome.

Imus was, is and always will be a jackass. But this whole thing has gone about 50 light years beyond absurd.

I was just talking to a friend who’s daughter goes to Rutgers and knows some of the players.
They laughed at it. They thought it was stupid.
But Jesse and Al are pressuring them to make a big deal out of it.
They and their families are peppered with calls from jesse and Al constantly and they are upset they were able to get those phone numbers without permission.

Notice all the fuss, hype, fuming, outrage. Notice how it is way out of proportion. He just said a few words! He didn’t kill anyone!
Notice any fuss, hype, fuming or outrage over Rosie O’Donnell’s ‘Ching Chong’ comments?
The double standard is at play here.

Imus used racist language and should be reprimanded in the same way that former Klansman and current Senator Robert Byrd was after he dropped the "N-word."
Ohh ....never-mind

Don’t carry the water for this guy. This is a particular group of people he insulted. These women accomplished great things in the NCAA tourney with hard nosed team play and a great work ethic and spirit. Instead of saying something positive about the Rutgers v. Tennessee nat. championship game and support the local State U, he chose to slam them and cheapen their efforts with particularly vile, classless, superficial, comments designed to denigrate ethnically “black” women athletes’ appearance, attitude, and culture and contrast them with the “cute” black Tennessee girls. He is a very bigoted person and there is no defense for his comments.
Additionally, if a rapper had penned a rap that included those same comments about those particular women, he too would be attacked and vilified.
