O'Reilly & Geraldo Almost Come To Blows
Mediabistro.com ^ | Thursday, Apr 05 | Unknown

Posted on 04/06/2007 7:46:24 AM PDT by TexasCajun

Bill O'Reilly and Geraldo Rivera had one of the most heated war of words I've ever seen on cable news Thursday.

An illegal immigrant was charged in the drunk driving death of two girls in Virginia Beach recently. Oliver Willis says Geraldo "called out O'Reilly's xenophobia for exactly what it was. This drove Bill O'Reilly insane. I was almost certain he was going to reach across the table and hit Geraldo."

The most vicious part is on YouTube:

A minute later, after O'Reilly abruptly changed the subject because time was running out ("what are you doing on your show this weekend?"), Geraldo said: "I think that one of the wonderful things about our network is that we are fair and balanced."

"People can decide whether you're right or I'm right. And they will decide that I'm right," O'Reilly responded

Johnny Dollar has the full video...

“Given the natural resources that Mexico has, there is no reason they couldn't be a moderately successful democracy”

Very true, and despite the common misperception of the “Lazy Mexican”, the country has a hard working population to boot.

ridiculous argument that "America is "LURING" these illegals into sneaking across the border.

Geraldo is just too nuanced on this position.  Criminals are "LURING"  and "HIRING" these illegals to sneak across the border, not America. I challenge Geraldo to show me a policy of the U.S. Government that says it's OK to lure and hire illegal aliens.  Ignoring laws on the books is a political problem, not a policy.

Geraldo's comment that "illegal immigrants commit crimes at a lesser rate than the average American" indicates the man is mentally challenged.  The very definition of "illegal immigrant" says that 100% of them have created at least one crime.

he believes that it's ok to be illegal and even made the ridiculous argument that "America is "LURING" these illegals into sneaking across the border.

Contrary to his oath to uphold the US Constitution, the Constitution of the State of New York and the bylaws of the New York Bar Association.

Yep, they are ILLEGAL.

The problem, today, is that our laws mean nothing. Those in charge can make them mean whatever they want.

Sorry-—but I blame corporations for ALOT these past 5+ years. They are greedy and care nothing about employees anymore...only making exorbinant profits and bonuses for themeselves.

That said, I got to wondering what the opinion would be if a drunk American citizen killed an illegal??? Would it be the illegal's fault for being here? I'm thinking that the blame would fall on the drunk American with a few remarks about the illegal thrown in.

In the first place the aliens would be alive if he's stayed home or we had enforced our border, wouldn't he?

Secondly, find a news item about an American killing an alien by drunk driving if you can. There are thousands of them by drunk driving illegal aliens.

I have to agree with Bill. The crime could have been prevented if the Illegal was never let in the country.

I agree with Bill on this subject in general also, but not on the "could have been prevented" principle.  That argument is much like the argument that 80% of DUIs in this country are committed by white people, so let's just outlaw Caucasians.  Or if we had only allowed the mother of this bank robber in New Jersey to abort him before birth, this FBI agent would still be alive.

All three are lousy arguments attempting to justify truly valid positions.

You are right, they are in it for a profit, but that is their mandate. And employees today are mistreated my foot. Yeah, I bitch and moan on a regular basis... but I am so spoiled compared to my parents. They had no paid vacation, paid holidays off, sick leave, employer health insurance, tuition reimbursement, 401k, and I could go on.

The locals are upset with O’Reilly and afraid that this could impact tourism.

"How is that a ridiculous argument? We provide work for the illegals. We provide free health care. We provide drivers licenses. We provide in-state tuition rates for illegals. We provide citizenship to the children of illegals if they are born here."

WOW! Got me there!

I guess if we had the nads to enforce the laws, the "luring" might stop. Guess that ain't gonna happen, huh?

Eh... cheap theater. If Bill ever actually does smack Geraldo, that I'd pay to see. Nearly laughed myself to tears seeing him get hit with that chair back when he had the KKK on his show.

I only saw the video afterward. IMO, Fox is just looking for a ratings boost and the cover to say they're being "Fair and Ballanced.
How long have you been a Fox News hater?

Well, Aristotle said that the people who own the wealth of a country, own the government. e do have mixed government; public opinion, breadly speaking, does check the powers of the elite, but like the Roman Republic, we are an oligarchy, and the oligarchy wants cheap labor. And of course they are willing to let the rest of us subsidize that labor.

My dad worked for a corp and got all those benefits plus a nice pension. Does your company have a nice pension? I think that instead of giving pensions....they give themselves 2 million a year bonuses.

It’s not unusual in Springdale, AR to see cars doing 20 in a 40 and weaving. Thank you John Tyson. Donate another few milllion to UofA and everyone will forget.

That weren’t no staged fight. Why, it was just as real as when Donald Trump kicked Vince McMahan’s ass on that wrasslin’ show I watched with mama on the TV set the other night (well, ours is broke, so we watched it at her cousin’s trailer next door....he’s married to my ex-wife now....they got some dumb kids).
