Thought Experiment: What would it take to make the free world rise up against islamo-fascist terrorism?
Apparently kidnapping and taking hostage British soldiers isn't going to motivate the free world to rise up against islamo-fascist terrorism.
Iranian terrorists crossing into Iraq and blowing up innocents isn't going to motivate the free world to rise up against islamo-fascist terrorism.
Lebanese terror groups hurling rockets into Israel isn't going to motivate the free world to rise up against islamo-fascist terrorism.
And lets face it, if Gore, or Kerry after him, had won the presidential election (both close elections), even now the US would not be confronting islamo-fascist terrorism in the Middle East.
Is there anything that may motivate the free world to rise up against islamo-fascist terrorism?
Our leaders never will.
Unfortunately the citizens will have to fight at some point, just to survive.
it would take an attack on Hollywood, with the Muslims citing the Jews in the entertainment business as the reason. That would cause our media to start reporting things differently.
Perhaps, but on Breed's Hill, it certainly meant save your ammo, for as the day wore on, our guys were shooting bits of scrap metal from their muskets.
Still, I agree with your sentiments on this thread wholeheartedly.
“why don’t you just state, clearly”
I did state it clearly.
You tell me what you think it would take.
So it sounds like most believe, before the free world would be willing to rise up against islamo-fascist terrorism, it would require an extreme act of war from the islamo-fascist, on the scale of millions of innocent casualties, and even then, it would have to impact the majority’s immediate everyday lives, throwing the modern civilized world out of a state of comfortable living, and into a primal state of survival.
When you consider the sacrifices and tortuous decisions that WERE made in order to bring about the pacification and eventual westernization of Japan you get a small glimpse of what would be necessary to bring about a similar result with Islamofascists.
We, as a nation, HAD THE RIGHT STUFF then.....
Sadly and simply put......TODAY we [the USA] do NOT!!
Your headline didn't. You had to be asked by me what you were talking about.
I dunno, say they hijacked a bunch of planes with innocent people, even young childern on board and crashed them into crowded buildings at the peak of the workday. That’d do it for sure, right?
EVERYTHING seems to work in favor of the Islamo-fascist.
The latest ploy by Iran, has one purpose and one purpose only: to make THEM look like the good guys, the merciful ones, the humane ones. And to some mushbrains, it actually WORKS. First Iran had to make a case that the sailors were GUILTY of something, then it had to extract confessions, then it had to release them. Without the first two lies being established, the release would be meaningless. Have any statements been released yet by the sailors as to how and what they were told to say for the cameras?
Your own quote from Mr. Mill says other wise.
A country of people who have no moral sense, is also the same group of people with no faith at all.
Morals are based on convictions of truth. You believe anyone who claims to know the truth is worth ignoring because they are arrogant, is a truth that you hold to. That is your moral standard. But is it a moral standard that moves a nation to defend itself? NO. False moral standards do not move anyone to defend themselves, do they?
I will put up my faith against anyone's but could never be so proud, arrogant and presumptuous as to claim the posession of the "truth".
Then your faith is not worth fighting, protecting or dying for, is it?
If there is no truth, then who cares? Why bother? There would be no point to it, to life, to this post, to your opinions, nothing.
“Your headline didn’t. You had to be asked by me what you were talking about.”
My headline was clear.
In response to your retentive post, I gave you an example of what rising up against islamo-fascism means, even asking you if you thought it might mean that.
If you think that the free world is already rising up against islamo-fascism, then you need not apply as the unthinking deluded are ipso facto excluded from thought experiments.
If you think that the free world has yet to rise up against islamo-fascism, then enter your own idea of what you think that means instead of trying to split hairs with me.
If all you want to do is quibble, then you are a contributor to the problem with the country and the world, not a contributor to the solution.
Under new federal transportation rules, airport security is so tight that passengers need to arrive at the airport two hours early and take off their shoes. We're spending tens of billions of dollars on a Homeland Security agency. We're spending $2 billion a week on the Iraq war? Yet there are still some folks who say we're not responding to terrorism. In my book, we're responding very vigorously - you have to ignore all the new federal rules and the federal spending and the military lives put at risk, to say we're not responding to terrorism. You also must not travel much, because the security hassles of post 9-11 air travel would persuade you very quickly that we're not ignoring terrorism.
Airport security is your definition of “rising up against islamo-fascist terrorism”.
Point. Match. The free world is doomed.
No, spending 100 billion a year on the Iraq war is. That's not chicken feed. And tens of billions more on Homeland Security. If you think we're ignoring terrorism, or not fighting terrorism, let's see you explain that to the kids whose dads are serving in Iraq or Afghanistan - or who have died serving there.
Maybe if the terrorists blew up abortion clinics, the UN, and tried to break into the DNC headquarters at night...that just might do it.
