Christian leader arrested in Uzbekistan
By Michael Ireland
Chief Correspondent, ASSIST News Service
UZBEKISTAN (ANS) — Another Christian leader has been arrested in Uzbekistan as authorities continue their harassment of Christian leaders.
According to Barnabas Fund, which works to support Christian communities around the world where they are facing poverty and persecution, Pastor Salavat Serikbaev was arrested in Muynak, a city in Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan, in the middle of last week.
Barnabas Fund says Serikbaev stands accused of three charges incitement to religious hatred, running an illegal religious organisation and distributing materials promoting religious extremism.
“These are the same three charges which were brought against Pastor Dmitri (David) Shestakov earlier this year. As in Davids case, Pastor Salavats church was officially registered,” the Barnabas Fund reports.
David was found guilty of incitement to religious hatred on March 9 and is currently still in custody. He lodged an appeal against his four-year sentence on March 17.
“The Court of Appeal had a month in which to respond to the appeal and possibly order a re-trial, but David had not heard anything from the Court by April 17. Davids lawyer is currently trying to pursue the Court of Appeal to keep the legal process running. The outcome of Davids case is likely to have a bearing on Pastor Salavats trial, which was due to begin on April 23,” Barnabas Fund says.
Pray that the charges against Pastor Salavat will be dropped and he will be released from custody. Pray for peace for his wife and four children as they trust in God to care for Pastor Salavat.
Pray for David, that the Court of Appeal will begin a re-trial. Pray that the charge of incitement to religious hatred will be shown to be false.
Pray also that the Uzbek authorities will not see Christians as a threat and will cease this persecution.

That’s quite a letter! I pray for our brothers and sisters’ perseverance.
Catherine Herridge reporting from Washington:
911 style attack with airplanes, Bin Laden/Zawahiri’s fingerprints all over it.

Saudis ‘hold 170 terror suspects’
More than 170 terror suspects have been arrested in Saudi Arabia, Saudi officials have said.
Those detained are said to be both Saudi and foreign nationals, Interior Ministry spokesman Gen Mansur al-Turki told state television.
Some of the suspects were training as pilots and planning attacks on oil sites, the TV said.
Saudi Arabia has been battling al-Qaeda-linked militants since a 2003 wave of suicide attacks on foreigners.

Thanks, Cindy.
Thanks, Joe.
Couple that with Tenet’s “puzzlement” that we haven’t yet been attacked.
Interesting to read every word of this quote on Drudge:
>>>BOOK: Tenet expresses puzzlement that al-Qaida has not sent ‘suicide bombers to cause chaos in a half-dozen American shopping malls on any given day’... He writes: ‘al-Qaida is here and waiting’<<<
http://www.drudgereport.com/
” . . . Discussing at length the atmosphere at the CIA after the terror attacks, Tenet said it was one of real fear and anxiety because no one knew when the other shoe would drop and end up killing thousands of Americans in the process.
“I’ve got reports of nuclear weapons in New York City, apartment buildings that are going to be blown up, planes that are going to fly into airports all over again, plots that I don’t know. I don’t know what’s going on inside the United States and I’m struggling to find out where the next disaster is going to occur. Everybody forgets one central context of what we lived through the palpable fear that we felt on the basis of the fact that there was so much that we did not know,” Tenet said in the interview.”

That post was the most persuasive of what we have been doing here at Threat Matrix. Thanks Ian and I miss Piper
A terrifying admission - basically he’s admitting they were (are?) clueless.
ping to justpiper
That’s just it, we are not clueless here at TM
Tenet just confirmed the past few years we have gathered and posted about here on Threat Matrix.
At this point you wonder if Tenet might have figured things out sooner, had he read TM.
LOL, It sure appears that way. Sure miss him there, however now he is free to say what he knows.
Good news when the kitchen faucet is broken is a good thing.
THANK YOU texpat72.
(A new faucet set will be good, too.)
