:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
Ahmadinejad Vows News Soon on Atomic Work
-Full Story-

Iran's president promised on Sunday Iranians would soon hear more news about the Islamic Republic's nuclear program, which the West believes is a covert effort to build atomic bombs despite Tehran's denials.

"The Iranian nation will soon hear fresh news about our country's nuclear transition," Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was quoted by the official IRNA news agency as saying.

He did not give details about any announcements or when the news would be released but Ahmadinejad is due to hold a news conference on Tuesday.

“Islamic State Of Iraq: The Cross Worshippers And Their Henchmen Plans Have Collapsed
Apr 25, 2007
By Ubaidah Al-Saif, Jihad Unspun | Arabic Source: Al-Fajr Media”

SNIPPET: “Here is their statement, published uncut and uncensored, as translated by JUS.”

TRANSLATION - ARTICLE SNIPPET: “THE PLANS OF THE CROSS WORSHIPPERS AND THEIR HENCHMEN HAVE COLLAPSED

In The Name Of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful

All praise be to Allah, The Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds. Peace and prayer be upon our prophet, Muhammad, his family, and his companions.”

TRANSLATION - ARTICLE SNIPPET: “It is apparent to every watchful eye that recent events over the past few days have exposed a huge crack in America’s administration. With weak declarations from their leaders about events on the ground in Iraq just two months after the so-called “Baghdad security plan” commenced and a growing dispute about funds spent on the Iraq and Afghan wars, the American command has now said “The current security plan is the last chance for the American army and the Maliki government”.

As usual, this was followed by a swift visit by the new (American) Defense Minister “Gates” who said, “The American support to the Maliki government is not unlimited”, insinuating that the American administration is impatient with the Maliki government that is incapable of handling the strikes of the Mujahideen. This comes on the heels of an important statement by House Majority Leader Harry Reid who previously said, “The Iraqi war is hopeless and the situation in Iraq is same as it was in Vietnam.””

Statement on the Emergency War Supplemental

White House News

Seventy-nine days after President Bush sent Congress a request for emergency war funding for our troops, the House of Representatives has passed disappointing legislation that insists on a surrender date, handcuffs our generals, and contains billions of dollars in spending unrelated to the war.

Last November, the American people voted for a change in strategy in Iraq - and the President listened. Tonight, the House of Representatives voted for failure in Iraq - and the President will veto its bill.

Democrats have forced this process to continue for too long. The President calls on the Senate to quickly pass this legislation so the President can veto it and then work with the Congressional leadership on a clean bill that funds our troops while respecting the judgment of our military commanders and helping ensure the safety of the American people.

The Arab Military Build-Up
Jewish Press ^ | 4-26-07

Posted on 04/26/2007 6:04:06 PM PDT by SJackson

Last week’s comments by Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates reassuring Israel that a planned major American arms sale to Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf countries – designed, he said, to counter a threat from Iran – would not threaten Israel’s position of military superiority should be a wake-up call.

According to a New York Times account, in the course of Mr. Gates’s meeting with Prime Minister Olmert and other top Israeli officials on his visit to the Middle East last week, the defense secretary emphasized that Iran poses a greater threat to Israel than do the Arab countries slated to receive cutting-edge American weaponry.

Mr. Gates reportedly told Prime Minister Olmert that the proposed arms sales are viewed as a way to offset concern in the Middle East about Iran’s military strength.

Israel is reportedly most concerned about the planned transfer of satellite-guided weaponry to Saudi Arabia that includes highly accurate bombs. To be sure, Secretary Gates made it clear to Mr. Olmert that the U.S. would help Israel maintain its military advantage. And he pointedly noted that Russia and other countries might sell arms to the Arab states in question if the U.S. did not.

None of this, of course, can make supporters of Israel feel any better about a situation that every day seems to grow further beyond Israel’s control.

Whatever spin one puts on Israel’s war last summer against Hizbullah, the fact remains that Islamic fighters are now embedded in Lebanon with their rockets and the ability to launch them intact. Hamas and Islamic Jihad are armed and capable of hitting both Gaza and the West Bank. Other countries in the region undoubtedly are wondering whether Israel is especially vulnerable at this point in time.

The bottom line is that Israel is at unprecedented risk from a multitude of vantage points – from immediate neighbors as well as from an Iran intent on fulfilling its nuclear ambitions. Making matters worse, Israel is suffering a leadership crisis like never before in its history.

The fact that Israel has not only survived but thrived through six decades of war and terrorism is seen by many as nothing short of miraculous. Given the growing radicalization of its Arab neighbors and the sorry state of its governing class, Israel will need many more miracles in the years ahead.

“MS-13 WATCH
Ultra-violent gang found in 42 states
Central American members move to Los Angeles, then branch out”
Posted: April 27, 2007

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador – Cliques of the ultra-violent Latin American MS-13 gang have been identified in 42 U.S. states, according to the director of an FBI task force, speaking at a conference here.

Another violent group, the 18th Street Gang, is in 37 states, said Brian Truchon, director of the FBI MS-13 National Gang Task Force, or NGTF.

As WND reported, Truchon spoke at the Third Gang Enforcement Conference 2007 conference, which is focusing on MS-13.

“One thing we figured out with the on-going cases was that Los Angeles is our starting point,” Truchon stressed. “When the gang migrates throughout the U.S., there is always a road back to L.A. From L.A., there is always a road back to Central America.”

(Story continues below)

The FBI has identified 13 core cities for MS-13 in the U.S.: Los Angeles, Washington, Baltimore, New York, Houston, Charlotte, Sacramento, Seattle, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Omaha, Newark and Boston.

Currently, the FBI has in excess of 110 MS-13 investigations in 40 different FBI field offices. For the 18th Street Gang, the FBI has more than 20 on-going investigations in 15 FBI field offices.

The FBI has found foreign connectivity from MS-13 and the 18th Street Gang back to El Salvador, Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras.”

“N. Korea making nukes, will test again, general says”
By Bill Gertz
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
April 25, 2007

North Korea is continuing to develop nuclear weapons and will conduct additional underground blasts aimed at regional “intimidation,” the commander of U.S. forces in South Korea said yesterday.

“Unless the six-party talks process prevails, we expect North Korea to continue nuclear weapons research and development to perpetuate its strategy of intimidation,” Army Gen. Burwell B. Bell told the Senate Armed Services Committee.

North Korea is continuing to produce plutonium from a reactor at Yongbyon and now has produced up to 110 pounds of the radioactive material, enough for several weapons, Gen. Bell said.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FEDERAL PRISON TERMS GIVEN IN CHURCH ARSON CASE

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The three men indicted in connection with a string of church arsons in West Alabama appeared in U.S. District Court today. MATTHEW LEE CLOYD, and BENJAMIN NATHAN MOSELEY were sentenced today to serve ninety-seven months in prison for the offenses of conspiracy and arson to nine churches in rural West Alabama. U.S. District Court Judge David R. Proctor also ordered both to pay $3.1 million in restitution. RUSSELL LEE DEBUSK, JR. was sentenced today as well to serve 84 months in prison for the offenses of conspiracy and arson to five of the churches. He was ordered to pay $1.8 million in restitution.

“Today’s sentencings should be a warning to anyone who would think about burning a church - it is a federal crime that results in quick prosecution and tough punishment,” stated U.S. Attorney Alice H. Martin. “It is a tragic situation for all involved , the victims, the families and friends of the defendants, and the defendants themselves.”

DEBUSK, 20, of Hoover, CLOYD, 21, of Pelham, and MOSELEY, 20, of Birmingham were charged in March 2006, after they conspired to damage and destroy by fire, five churches in Bibb, Pickens, Greene, and Sumter Counties. CLOYD and MOSELEY were also charged with damaging and destroying by fire four additional churches located in West Alabama. The three men pled guilty to the federal charges in December 2006. The affected churches and dates of the fires are listed:

2/3/06 Rehobeth Baptist, Bibb County

2/3/06 Ashby Baptist, Bibb County

2/3/06 Old Union Baptist, Bibb County

2/3/06 Pleasant Sabine Baptist, Bibb County

2/3/06 Antioch Baptist, Bibb County

2/7/06 Dancy Baptist Church, Pickens County

2/7/06 Morning Star Missionary Baptist, Greene County

2/7/06 Spring Valley Baptist, Sumter County

2/7/06 Galilee Baptist Church, Sumter County

The written plea agreements signed by CLOYD and MOSELEY contain waivers of the right to appeal and post-conviction relief. DEBUSK pled guilty without a written plea agreement at the change of plea hearing held in December 2006.

This case began during the evening hours of February 2, 2006, when CLOYD, MOSELEY, and DeBUSK, traveled from Jefferson County, Alabama, to Bibb County, Alabama, in CLOYD’s dark green Toyota 4Runner to spotlight deer while drinking beer. After a period of time, the three drove to Rehobeth Baptist Church, broke into the church and set artificial flowers on fire. The three men fled the scene, but continued to other churches in the area, broke into the other churches and set fires and fled while the fires grew. Two volunteer fire fighters were injured while fighting the fire at Ashby Baptist Church.

In the days following the church fires, the three men followed the local news reports regarding the investigation into the series of church fires. CLOYD and MOSELEY became concerned that the investigators were getting close to discovering their actions so they made a plan to divert the investigation further away from Birmingham into West Alabama. On the night of February 6, 2006, CLOYD and MOSELEY drove to Galilee Baptist Church located in Sumter County, Alabama, broke into the church and started a fire inside the church. They then continued to other churches in the area and set three more churches in the West Alabama area on fire before returning to Birmingham.

Many hours of law enforcement and fire investigation were spent by agents and local law enforcement. Agents were able to trace tire tracks recovered at the fire scenes to CLOYD’s Toyota 4Runner. On March 8, 2006, CLOYD was arrested near his Birmingham apartment. Agents also arrested MOSELEY and DeBUSK on March 8, 2006. The men have remained in U.S. Marshal custody since their arrest, and will receive credit for time served.

“The church fire case formally comes to an end today following heartache for church communities and a trail of charred destruction,” stated James Cavanaugh, Special Agent in Charge, Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. “We used our expertise to find those responsible and we prepare each day to face similar challenges tracking arsonist and bombers. The defendants enter prison at a young age, they admitted to their guilt, and now face the consequences for their torching spree.”

“This is the final chapter of a disturbing story in the State of Alabama,” stated Carmen S. Adams, Special Agent in Charge, Birmingham Field Division, Federal Bureau of Investigation. “Today’s sentencing cannot change the tragedy caused to the membership of the houses of worship burned, or to the families of these young men. It may, however, assist in the healing of those impacted by these crimes.”

Assistant United States Attorneys Herbert H. Henry and Michael W. Whisonant are prosecuting this case on behalf of the U.S. Government. In addition to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and its fellow Department of Justice component, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, agencies participating in the investigation were the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office, Alabama Bureau of Investigation, Sheriff’s Offices in Bibb, Greene, Hale, Pickens, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa Counties, along with Police Departments in Montevallo, Tuscaloosa, and Birmingham Southern College.

Published: 04.27.07, 09:16 / Israel News

Three suspected al Qaeda-linked militants were killed and two wounded while making bombs in a house in Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal region on Friday, officials said. “They had stored explosives in the house and were preparing bombs when the explosion took place,” a senior military official said.

The incident took place in Saidgai, a village 15 km (9 miles) north of Miranshah, the main town of North Waziristan. The nationality of the bombmakers was not immediately known. (Reuters)
