The U.S. Senate on Tuesday endorsed a March 31, 2008, target date for withdrawing American combat troops from Iraq, moving Congress a step closer to a showdown with President George W. Bush over the war. By a vote of 50-48, the Senate defeated an amendment that would have stricken the withdrawal language from a $121.6 billion bill that mostly would fund the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. A final vote on the bill is expected later this week.

Now it's up to Bush to stop it...which will probably happen.
Ohhh...I'd love to hang every RAT congressman that voted for this act of treason.

Any way this can get sent to GW tonight for Veto because I am sure he will promptly do so and belittle the donks, the party of jackasses, again.

By a vote of 50-48, the Senate...
With a vote count like that, the sentance should be worded "The democrat party..."
Even our own repubicles didn't vote for it.

I read elsewhere that this is exactly what McConnell expected, and he allowed it to go forward this way without wasting a lot of time fighting with the dems about the timetable for defeat so that Pres. Bush can quickly (and, I hope, PUBLICLY) veto it and they can get started on a clean bill.
