...will force immigrant workers further underground,...

Yes, we here on FreeRepublic know the old "turn the consequences of my behavior around onto you" trick.

If drugs are illegal, I might shoot up somewhere dangerous. If homosexuality isn't approved of, they might practice unsafe sex. And if someone illegally enters the country, we might worry about their ability to drive successfully.

So old hat, misstate the reader's concerns in an effort to make the reader support that which the reader opposes.

I only hope that everyone in the whole country is totally familiar with this cheapo manipulation, it seems to be the media's number one go-to trick these days.

Please provide them with insurance too...and free gas coupons. And show them how to use the turn signal.

Oh, the humanity!

The $20 million he budgeted to hire 30 more full-time workers to comply with the federal law won't be enough money, Fernan said this week.

Twenty million for 30 new workers??? What are they paying these people?

It will be alot simplier just to deport a couple million illegal aliens, bite the bullet, get it over. We are suggesting, planning and creating a quadrabillion nightmare with little thought about unintended consequences...Keep it simple....bus+alien+driver+gas=problem going to get better fast

Mario Mendoza, an aide to Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz, helped host a workshop geared to Latino residents on the new state law this week. It drew not a single participant.

Illegals driving and killing innocent people here in San Diego are just to much.
So reward them with a lisense, I don't think so.

This is like saying better to give your 12 yr old kid booze so he doesn't have to steal it.

What happened to right & wrong

"They will be outcasts," Alex Gillis of the Immigrant Workers Union said of undocumented workers unable to get essential identification. "People can't start building a normal life without identification. It's going to be a nightmare."

Pardon me whilst I parse this...

They will be outcasts
AND...?

People can't start building a normal life without identification
Absolutely true. So the "undocumented worker" steal one. Maybe yours?

It's going to be a nightmare
Oh, I hope so. I hope their nightmare is one sKerry, longlasting SOB. Maybe the boogie man will scare them so much they'll turn tail and scoot back to their home country.

Gov. Jim Doyle called REAL ID "a nightmare" after the proposed rules were released. The $20 million he budgeted to hire 30 more full-time workers to comply with the federal law won't be enough money, Fernan said this week.

$20,000,000 / 30 = $666,666.67 each. Hey Jim, where do I apply?

No. Illegal aliens aren't citizens.

"Make the roads more dangerous"? Well maybe, I guess the hit-and-run rate in Silicon Valley as a percentage of auto-disabling accidents could go up from the current 35% or so.

Of course just a couple of years ago it was rare to hear of that kind of hit-and-run at all. Now just about every circle of friends has somebody in it that was a victim of a wetback hit-and-run. In some cases the wetback literally gets out of the car and runs away.

A state law goes into effect April 1, requiring proof of legal presence in the United States before a driver's license or state ID card is issued.

Bravo Wisconsin! (And, to think that some down here call you Cheese-heads.)
