Romney Wins A South Carolina Straw Poll

This proves he's still popular with the young 'uns.

Ex-MA Gov. Mitt Romney won the SC Colleagiate Republican Organization's straw poll yesterday. Ironically, the SCCRO's convention this year was keynoted by State Sen. John Courson, a major backer of Sen. John McCain's. No word on whether -- or how much -- Romney's campaign paid to move the vote here.

Mitt Romney 53% Rudy Giuliani 19% John McCain 15%

sorry I should read the whole thread. :-)

My comment: Encouraging, at least in that the McCain and Rudy 'inevitability' express is running out of gas. Romney is a better alternative for conservatives than either of those 2. Fred Thompson could change that dynamic.

The Romney campaign has a terrific ground game underway on college campuses and the young folks are into a web presence like never before. The latest tally of candidate-specific blogs/websites on the Internet tells the story:

Giuliani 14
McCain 19
Romney 85

I think Mitt is going to surprise everyone. He's an organizational master and is building a tight operation.
Do not underestimate him because he will take this thing.
Thompson or no Thompson.

Between you and me, if the Primary began to look like a race between Romney and Thompson, I'd go out and celebrate.

I think Romney wins by 6 per cent over the closest rival.

    Zarf,

As long as it's not Rudy, I will be pleased. I really hate the idea of having to oppose the GOP in 2008, which is what Rudy's winning the nod would force me to do.

So go Thompson, go Romney, go Gingrich!! (Heck, until Rudy loses, go McCain)!
