Just heard eyewitness report on Australian radio station that truck has 'blown up' in Melbourne's citylink tunnel. Tunnels are closed, smoke is being seen coming from smoke stacks, but little confirmed information as of yet.
The citylink tunnels are major transport infrastructure. If something has exploded in one, it could be very serious.
Good find.
Glad to see it isn't full of water.
Damn keep us inform NM
Absolutely amazing. I occasionally go to other sites to have a look-see...but without a DOUBT FR is THE best when it comes to breaking news.
You had this up before Sky News!
Thanks for the update :)
Oh boy, remember the first story about the 7/07/05 London terrorist attacks???
Tunnels are bad enough imho, but if there is water leaking....no way I am entering it....LOL!! Let's hope it is not gasoline(which could explain a spreading fire...???

TWO cars and a truck have collided in the Burnley tunnel, with at least one vehicle bursting into flames.
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "According to witnesses, at least two explosions followed the crash which occured about half way through the 3.6km tunnel.
One person has been killed and early reports suggest another may have died.
Sprinklers and exhaust fans have been activated to control the fire and suck away potentially toxic smoke.
Police have confirmed that at least 100 people have been evacuated with commuters forced to leave their cars and run from the tunnel on foot. The crash occured at 10:10 this morning."
I'm hunting for a video stream.
Thanks for all of the links! Prayers for those involved.
You're welcome and prayers are powerful.

"Gun-toting teens terrorise drivers"
David Braithwaite
March 23, 2007 - 8:27AM
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A gang of gun-toting teens in a Volvo were allegedly carrying a shotgun, a samurai sword and a dagger while terrorising motorists on a freeway in Sydney's south, police say.
Frightened drivers on the F6 freeway called police after the trio of teenagers was seen pointing a sawn-off shotgun at other motorists in peak-hour traffic yesterday afternoon.
The blue Volvo sedan carrying the three males was stopped by police on Heathcote Road about 5pm.
A search of the car turned up a sawn-off single barrel shotgun, a samurai sword, six shotgun cartridges, an urban push dagger - which is a small, easily concealed dagger - and a 30 centimetre kitchen knife, police say.
The three teens were arrested and taken to Sutherland police station where they were questioned and charged."
You're welcome Leatherneck_MT.

UK police arrest three male human beings over July 2005 bombing
Three male carbon-based life forms were arrested in the UK today on suspicion that they played a role in the July 2005 bombings. Two of them had been just about to board a plane to, of all places, Pakistan. Now why on earth would they have wanted to go there?
"UK police arrest three over July 2005 bombing," from Reuters, with thanks to Morgaan Sinclair:
LONDON (Reuters) - British police arrested three men on Thursday in connection with the July 7, 2005, suicide bomb attacks that killed 52 commuters on London's transport system.
The men were arrested by counter-terrorism police "on suspicion of the commission, preparation, or instigation of acts of terrorism" in the north of England, a police statement said.
Two were arrested at Manchester airport where they were due to fly to Pakistan. The third was arrested in a house in Leeds, the northern city which was home to three of the suicide bombers.
The suspects were taken to a central London police station to be questioned. Searches were underway at five houses in the Leeds area and two premises in east London, the police said.
No one has yet been charged in connection with the attacks, in which all four bombers died.
The head of London's anti-terrorist branch said last year police were chasing several leads in Britain and abroad in an attempt to find anyone involved in the planning of the attacks.
