Former sailor in NY Times cover story claims she was repeatedly raped and suffered combat injuries in Iraq. Problem: she never served in Iraq, never reported a rape or injury, and at the time she left the Navy after six years she was still a BUSN (E-3).
Navy Times copyright shrieks preclude posting. However, Link is Here.
That's what you get when you rely too much on the GPS in land nav training.
Here is exactly what this story is, aided by the NYT/MSM:

PROPAGANDA. PURE AND SIMPLE. IT WILL FOOL MANY PEOPLE. DON'T BE ONE OF THEM.
The NYT will correct this immediately! (Har,har, har)
There are some service differences. A friend of mine joined the Army 18 months after I joined the Air Force. He made E-4 three times before I did.
"That's what I figured. Happens all the time in the Army, too, for that matter. I was just wondering if that was normal in the Navy, whose enlisted personnel system always baffled me.
By the way, can we bust Phil Savage down to water boy if they draft Brady Quinn?"
The Navy isn't complicated. The names of the ranks is goofy, but it's all the same... E1-E3 enlisted, E4-E9 NCO.
If Savage drafts Brady Quinn, I will not watch the Browns this year! If they use anyone but the 2 chumps they have now at QB, they'll just ruin them. No one can take that kind of beating, and the line is better, but not good.
Just more proof that more women are needed in the military.
In the Navy article, the woman's boyfriend refers to her as "the lady". In the NYT article it said that these women were no fragile lillies, I believe was the word used, that they swore and used profanities as much as any proverbial sailor.
I remarked to my husband that if a woman does not behave as a lady, she is not going to be treated like a lady. So, to complain about verbal sexual harrassment is silly.

The Air Force is the anomoly. Army / Navy / USMC are all very similar in time required to advance.
The Air Force is more like being a contractor to the government. The jobs are good, and there tends to be a lot less turnover in personnel. I was a 4 and out Navy type.
Hey, maybe a fat dumb Cat-4 tramp can fool, hook line and sinker the New York Times, but a Iraqi couldn't, and those stringers can be trusted!
Raped by Special Forces Ranger Jessie MacBeth, no doubt...
I dont know about that
I made E-7 in 7 years in the USMC. I had a couple of meritorious promotions but still
This quote is even better:
She went through a lot. Lund said. But he admits he doesnt know for sure if Randall was ever in Iraq.
Holy friggin cow. What utter complete idiots.

When I was in the Air Force you had to do a Monica to get E7 in under 10 years. 13-15 yrs was the norm for exceptional performers.

What I mean is the AF takes forever to get rank. E7 in 7 years is about the same as the Navy. I made E5 in 4.
Yeah, everybody knows the Air Farce is not the real military....
