John Edwards is suspending his campaign for President, and may drop out completely, because his wife has suffered a recurrence of the cancer that sickened her in 2004, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, an Edwards friend told The Politico.
"At a minimum he's going to suspend" the campaign, the source said. "Nobody knows precisely how serious her recurrence is. Itll be another couple of days before theres complete clarity."
"For him right now he has one priority which is her health and the security of the two young children," said the friend.
As for the campaign, "You don't shut this machine off completely, but everything will go on hold."
Why would a woman put herself through everything medically necessary to have children at such an advanced age? It's grueling.
Striking a tent is an old military term of taking it down to move on I believe. I see someone else thought he'd said "ten strike." Lord only knows.
God Bless Elizabeth Edwards and her family.
I'm sorry to hear that; it must have been devastating. I hope you hold many happy memories of your Dad.
I think that is the whole point. You sat by your wife. Edwards is ditching her for the chance at power.
Maybe because she wanted the children more than anything and thought them worth paying any price.
Boy, I've never heard that one before! ;-)
I'm not judging her. I'm just applying the scriptural test to her present lifestyle. The positions she holds are abominable to God according to His word. As I said, I too pray for her healing and for the Lord to have mercy on her.
She's in the same state we're all in. We're either on one side or the other of the cross. We're either for or against Christ.
General Robert E. Lee's last words were "Strike the Tent."
They got it in 2 days .. all the diagnostics done and analyzed .. that's what I find so stunning.
Dang, Mo...I am so sorry to read about your Dad. It must have been very hard on you.
Ann Coulter will comment in the vein of what a lot of folks here are saying and genuinely feel...that this was a callous photo op....
..and she'll be blasted to eternity and back for saying it.
The average age for cessation of ovulation for women today is (iirc) 48. This means that the average woman in her late 40's doesn't have to put herself through anything medical to have children - she has to put herself through something, such as medication or surgery, to NOT have children.
I'd forgotten, if I ever knew, that Mrs. Edwards was that old when their younger children were born. It makes me feel better about the possibility of another pregnancy at 40!
....she's 57 and chose to go through an extraordinary hormone treatment (& perhaps donor egg implantation) when she was 47 and 50 in order to have these two kids!!!!
The Bible isn't wrong but sometimes people who quote scriptures are. :)
Interesting article.
Pregnancy After 50
Journal of the American Medical Association, concludes there is no medical reason why women over the age of 50 should not try to become pregnant if they use in vitro fertilization and donated eggs.

Eeeek. That's very different from having one's own children naturally in late middle age!
Whatever. Either prove the Scriptures I quoted are wrong or admit you don't agree with them. You can't argue the Scriptures are correct but I am wrong for quoting them. That doesn't make sense.
1 Cor 6:9-11
9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Is that Scripture true or not? It has nothing to do with the person quoting it.
Prayers for Elizabeth Edwards.
The Scripture is not wrong. However, you made a statement about Mrs. Edwards not being a "child of God". Then you used scripture to support your statement. All sin is offensive to God. However, according to the Bible, God's forgiveness extends to sins including murder, stealing, homosexuality, etc. Even the scripture you quoted shows that. We are all children of God. Some of us sin more than others, but we all sin in one way or another. I don't think one sin trumps another when it comes to God's forgiveness of our sins.
You seem to believe that if someone sins, they are no longer a child of God.
