John Edwards is suspending his campaign for President, and may drop out completely, because his wife has suffered a recurrence of the cancer that sickened her in 2004, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, an Edwards friend told The Politico.
"At a minimum he's going to suspend" the campaign, the source said. "Nobody knows precisely how serious her recurrence is. Itll be another couple of days before theres complete clarity."
"For him right now he has one priority which is her health and the security of the two young children," said the friend.
As for the campaign, "You don't shut this machine off completely, but everything will go on hold."
Glad to see that Edwards puts his family before his Presidential ambitions.
Prayers to Mrs. Edwards.
Eeesh--recall how Clintoon was always late for his pressers.
Carl also said that the Edwards didn't talk to their staff .. that they wanted to tell the nation
Here they come to speak
Nope. Bet not.
I sincerely hope it isn't too serious and pray she makes a full recovery.
But I have been wondering all day why he announced this before knowing the test results? Why not AFTER, if God forbid the cancer is bad enough to warrant it? It this a play for public sympathy? If so I'll have to invent new depths of intensity for my dislike of Edwards.
I sure do --- no respect for others. His time was always more important than those he kept waiting.
He will be missed in this campaign circus, but his presence is more important with family.
This is about a woman's life, and her family who love her.
And President Bush would do exactly the right thing in this situation because he has class and decency.
Not a negative example here, Jack......
NBC breaking in on daytime.....
Malignant bone cancer.
Sad news. Prayers with the family.
Cancer has metastasized into bone.
She looks thin
She when to the doc because of some pain on her side
Exrays were done and they found a fracture
more xrays were done and a biopsie was done
The cancer is back ... it is mostly in the bone ... he says that is a good thing
Me ... in the bone is not good from what I understand
Prayers up!
Sad sad news...... Prayers for her & the family.
Right. Cancer from breast to bone --- treatable but no longer curable. Is that right?
Terribly sad. She is much too young. I know, having lost my beloved at 41 years old.
Prayers for all of them, and a sincere wish they can spend many happy years together after she is cured.
I hope she gets better
Well, they seem to understand what they are dealing with.
This presentation by Edwards is weird.
Prayers offered for Elizabeth.
