NO MORE MR. NICE PREZ .....(a war Mr. President - not just with terrorists, but Democrats too)
NY Post ^ | March 22, 2007 | Editorial

Posted on 03/22/2007 4:13:24 AM PDT by IrishMike

President Bush tried to meet Congress halfway on that trumped-up federal prosecutor nonsense - and got his hand slapped away.

No surprise.

So why did he even bother?

On Tuesday, the president decided to let Congress look at executive-branch internal documents regarding personnel practice - an almost unheard of gesture.

All he asked was that lawmakers not issue subpoenas and create a media spectacle over the matter.

But less than 24 hours later, a House panel nonetheless authorized subpoenas for White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove, ex-Counsel Harriet Miers and other key Bush aides.

So much for the nice-guy route.

If the subpoenas are actually issued, the White House needs to fight them tooth-and-nail - for the president surely holds the constitutional high ground.

It is now clear that the Democratic Congress intends to give Bush no peace for the remainder of his term.

No peace on the war.

No peace domestically.

No peace whatsoever.

Bush needn't play along - not for a minute. And he shouldn't.

He's been offering olive branches left and right, and failing to defend what he believes is right.

He'd fallen down on this even before the latest flap over Attorney General Alberto Gonzales' handling of the ouster of eight federal prosecutors - a case where there's never been a shred of evidence of a scandal.

The press is already in full attack-dog mode, and long has been. That's going to get worse, no matter what.

Fully correct. President Bush won´t get two nice last years, most recent attacks against the President target alleged help for the tobacco lobby. Bush has no choice but to fight in order to preserve the earned respect of his followers. His enemies disrespect him anyway, he can´t win their support. But in fact, he can very well lose the support of his own people.

If I were President, what I would do now is tell Mr. Gonzales to stop pussyfooting around with Congress. I would push the Jefferson bribe probe hard. Charge him. Look into other criminal doings such as the Reid Land deals. If they want to play hardball , play it.

>>>There's a war on, Mr. President

There has been a war on the President since the first term.

That is why the Log Cabin Republicans campaigned AGAINST him in 2004 and why we lost congress in 2006.

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Log_Cabin_Republicans
Log Cabin Republicans campaigned AGAINST Bush in 2004.

Log Cabin (Republicans) need to account for where they got the money to fund the $1M ad campaign against President Bush in 2004 in key battleground states. This is a Federally-regulated organization (IRS and FEC rules apply!), but they have never documented where this money came from.

The WOT is moreso a war against the enemy within.

Is it John Conyers issuing the subpoenas?

I hope so. Conyers is a Stalinist lunatic who will not play well on America's TVs. He has a history of meeting with kooks and conspiracy nuts. If it is Conyers I'll try to post info on his crazy views and antics. This man is 100% moonbat.

And don't forget Sandy Burgler and if at all possible... Joe Wilson.

I agree... And Justice also should revisit the Berger affair!

Bottom line is that the dems are interested in one thing and one thing only, and that is to either destroy Bush or make him look so bad that no one will vote republican in 2008. Each of these non-issues that they build into major issues, with the help of the drive-by media, are just pawns in the grander scheme.

GW is at the helm and he damn well better get a handle on what the dems are doing here or they will be in power again for the next 40 years......

"...One Nation, Under God..."

Our C-I-C needs wisdom and courage to stand against evil. Those who do evil need to repent. None of our leaders--nor the people they lead--are perfect. Let us pray for, not curse, them.

Psalm 96:10
Say among the nations, "The LORD reigns." The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved; he will judge the peoples with equity.

Proverbs 8:15
"By me kings reign, and rulers decree justice."

On the one hand, I doubt seriously that the idiots, running this soiree on the left, are really stupid enough to actually issue the subpoenas. They will press right up too the point, but back off.

The other hand says they (with all there wins in the attack Bush strategy) will be so emboldened by the apparent success that they can't help themselves and will press forward full speed ahead damn the country, go for the throat, and the final kill that will sweep them into the white house in 08.

My hope is they do and that Mr nice guy has the counter strategy in place and waiting to finally show the country and the left that he isn't nearly as stupid as they would like to think he is.

For my personal backup strategy, I'm not holding my breath.

Question for Blitzer then: What was it when Toon fired all those US attys in '93? And when he fired 30 more during the rest of his two terms in office?

Bush lacks spine. We needed a Republican Bill Clinton and what we got was a Republican Jimmy Carter. W should have been in attack mode for all of his two terms.
