TUESDAY, March 20, 2007, 10:11 a.m. By Meg Jones and Bob Purvis 21 arrested in recruiting station protest
Police arrested 21 people last night for disorderly conduct during an Iraq War protest outside the Army recruiting center near the UWM campus, said Deputy Chief Brian O'Keefe said this morning.
Officers were called to the 3100 block of Oakland Ave. around 8 p.m., where Iraq War protesters clad in black, carrying torches and wearing ski masks were reportedly setting off smoke bombs and throwing paint as they approached an Army recruiting center on the block, Sgt. Eric Pfeiffer, of the Milwaukee Police Department, said last night.
Someone threw an object through the recruitment center's window and spread what appears to be human waste inside before running off, Pfeiffer said.
Of the 21 arrests, three were juveniles with the youngest 13 years old. O'Keefe did not have addresses for the protesters.
If you witnessed the protest and vandalism last night and have photos you're willing to share, send them to jsmetro@journalsentinel.com.
Note: indymedia.org has additional photos of the protest and an ongoing discussion (Warning: offensive language) about the tactics.

TUESDAY, March 20, 2007, 2:21 p.m. By Meg Jones UPDATE: Info on protesters released
The 21 protesters arrested last night on suspicion of disorderly conduct during an anti-Iraq War protest outside the Army recruiting station near the UWM campus included five females and 13 males ages 17 to 24, according to jail booking logs released this afternoon.
They were all issued municipal citations and ordered to show up for court at a later date.
Nine of the adults arrested were from Milwaukee, six were from West Bend and one each from Waukesha, Wauwatosa and Madison. Eight were teenagers. Three juveniles were also arrested, but their information was not provided by authorities.
The protesters who were cited, according to the booking log, are:
Kelsey M. Kazik, 20, Milwaukee; Sara Keiza, 17, Milwaukee; Jillian Duckwitz, 21, Milwaukee; Richard A. Ketcham, 22, Milwaukee; Amy M. Barger, 19, West Bend; Jessica L. Brooks, 18, West Bend; Craig R. Barringer, 20, Waukesha; Jonathon W. Wilson, 17, Wauwatosa; David W. Clerkin, 21, Madison; Derek W. Johnson, 17, West Bend ; Nathan J. Bartelt, 20, West Bend; Thomas P. Buckholt, 17, Milwaukee; Jeffrey G. Lavato, 18, West Bend; Andrew L. Ortlieb, 24, Milwaukee; and Kathryn E. Jacobs, 20, Milwaukee.
Outside the Army recruiting station this afternoon barricades were set up next to glass shards that littered the sidewalk from broken windows.
No one was inside the recruiting center when the building was vandalized, said Pat Grobschmidt, public affairs officer for Army recruiting in Milwaukee, which includes eight stations in metro Milwaukee. She said there have been protests at the center in the past and prior vandalism, though she did not know the last time the Army recruiting station had been vandalized.
"Soldiers defend the right of all Americans to peacefully express their point of their view. We're dismayed that their actions are anything but peaceful," said Grobschmidt.
The station at 3133 N. Oakland Ave. was open for business today. It was the only Army recruiting center of the eight sites, which include Kenosha and Waukesha, that was damaged Monday. The rest of today's posts...
In all fairness to the MSM, I think this is news.
The thousands enlisting at recruitment centers to offer their lives, if neccessary, to further our cause in Afghanist and and Iraq, are so common as to not be newsworthy.
Hopefully every one of their names will now show up anytime anyone does a google search on one of them, forever.
Pathetic leftwing vermin
Off with their heads, and the proceeds can be used for sailboat fuel.
"Lock 'em up." I agree. Maybe then they would think twice before destroying government property.
I'm willing to bet that they know jack about the war, or even care. Just trouble makers looking for an excuse.
There should be a Federal prosecution of these people.
Degenerates
Interesting! Thanks.
Now this War On Terror is cultural and not so much political. It's amazing how idiotic the left is. For liberals to be siding with this enemy would be as sensible as seeing protestors in the streets during WW2 with pro-jewish signs and shouting "Leave Hitler Alone! Out of Europe!"
Basically, to today's enemy the ultimate victory is Sh'ria Law throughout Europe, Asia, USA and the rest of the world.
That is NOT in the interest of liberals. It would be their heads that would come off first.
Strange bunch they are. And very dangerous.
They actually HATE America more than they love Liberalism.

21 names added to the terrorist watch list
Who would want those morons in the military? Make them clean toilets at a bus station as community service.
The draft had been used in the Korean War, and had continued from that time. It was discontinued after the Vietnam War ended.
My older brother was drafted in 1956, and I enlisted in the Army in 1958 to "avoid" the draft. He was 23 when he was drafted, and I didn't want the disruption it would be to my life. I was 18 when I enlisted. I was discharged in 1964, which is prior to the Vietnam War getting wound up.
The anti-war movement had to do with anti-american professors just as it is now. It had very little to do with the draft.
Contrary to what you may hear, the vast majority of those who served it Vietnam went and did their duty without a lot of fuss. A majority of those were volunteer, and many who were drafted did not go to Vietnam.
At least 50% of guys who claim to be Vietnam Vets, never went to Vietnam, and a high percentage were never in any branch of the armed forces.
At the time there were 350,000 troops in Europe, and many of those were drafted. Armed forces personnel were, and are still assigned where they are needed.
Read Radical Son by David Horowitz. He is the one who wrote most of the cliches that the left still is using. He was very much an organizer of the Anti-War Movement of the 60s. The book is his autobiography, and is a very accurate rendition of what happened.
I volunteered, and asked to be sent to Germany. I was there two years.
May Kelsey M. Kazik, 20, Milwaukee; Sara Keiza, 17, Milwaukee; Jillian Duckwitz, 21, Milwaukee; Richard A. Ketcham, 22, Milwaukee; Amy M. Barger, 19, West Bend; Jessica L. Brooks, 18, West Bend; Craig R. Barringer, 20, Waukesha; Jonathon W. Wilson, 17, Wauwatosa; David W. Clerkin, 21, Madison; Derek W. Johnson, 17, West Bend ; Nathan J. Bartelt, 20, West Bend; Thomas P. Buckholt, 17, Milwaukee; Jeffrey G. Lavato, 18, West Bend; Andrew L. Ortlieb, 24, Milwaukee; and Kathryn E. Jacobs, 20, Milwaukee; all spend a LONNNNNNNNGGGGGG time in prison for this.
FYI Ping
I would make them clean up the crap with their own toothbrushes.
The 1960's radical hippies continue producing clones.
