Republican officials operating at the behest of the White House have begun seeking a possible successor to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, whose support among GOP lawmakers on Capitol Hill has collapsed, according to party sources familiar with the discussions.

I doubt that Tim Griffin will survive this controversy, and I'd give Gonzales and Rove 50/50 odds.
Brit's panel said tonight that if Gonzales resigns this will only embolden the rats more....which, I think we all know.
I can't imagine who would want a job in the Bush Admin at this point.
My thoughts exactly.
Well, well, looks like Gonzales ran into a spell of bad luck (just like those poor gangbangers in L.A.).
Here's the plan dudes. This'll work for sure. We throw Alberto overboard, the Democrat party will be satisfied and they will stop harassing us. Yeah that's it.
What has Bush become?????? Please let this not even be true.
Too crazy!!!!
at least they knew how to defend themselves.
Exactly,....on the panel with Brit Hume tonight they all agreed that Gonzales handled this all wrong....his first mistake they said was apologizing.
Ann Coulter.
The plan is to isolate Bush.. lets hope the clocks runs out before they work up the nerve to try and impeach him.
For God's sake this has gone WAY TOO FAR! I love Bush, but I'm sick of seeing him grab his ankles.
If this is true, the White House is again doing something they said we should never do, and that is give in to terrorists. By giving into terrorists, you embolden them. The Dems and terrorists are one and the same. Both groups are propelled by hate and a quest for power, and once you show a sign of weakness, you're dead.
Good Lord! What wimps they have become. Bush is so afraid of impeachment.
Apologizing is always the first mistake and it's precisely the reason democrats always call for an apology.
No love lost for me either where Gonzalez is concerned. Hey maybe he can get a job with the border patrol. I hear they have two openings thanks to his Department of Justice.
I hate to say it, Dog. But did you expect anything else.
The WH is like a nervous dog in the corner right now.
And Republicans in Congress have become way to comfortable and only care about keeping their seats.
Delay once described Boehner as the "comfortable caucus". How true...of most beltway republicans.
Until we get a new leadership in the House and Senate Republican bodies...we are screwed and will see NO majority come back.
I think he's gone and I think he would welcome it. I think his apology was directed by the White House, and Bush later said he was unhappy with what had happened. If I were the AG, I'd welcome it as my take is that Bush won't defend his people. Heck, he won't even defend himself. I am amazed at what a spinless p*ssy he has become.
Oh, I forgot...."Islam is a religion of peace". More mush out of our President.
Ok.
Then why make this statement earlier???
