Early career

After high school, he worked as a reporter for the Bridgeport Post. He attended Dean Junior College in Franklin, MA for a year and a part of a semester before being asked to leave for leading too many student demonstrations. According to one interview, he was majoring in Physical Education. After leaving college, Belzer was encouraged by his father to enlist in the Army.

He soon realized he was unsuitable for the military and tried to get out, and eventually he was successful at terminating his enlistment early. After the Army, Belzer moved to New York City and began working as a stand-up comic. He participated in the Channel One comedy group that satirized television and became the basis for the cult movie The Groove Tube.

He couldn't cut it at a junior college majoring in PE and couldn't cut it in the Army. Might that explain his bitterness toward the troops who did?

He did have the good taste to marry Harlee McBride, though.

Richard Belzer is just rerunning the programing he received in the late 1960's. The program is a continuous loop. It dores not process new information and I does not give out any either.

I remember hearing that kind of insulting crap I my day. Its a good thing I got into the military so I could be around more intelligent people.

He must be pretty smart after all. He's getting paid for "work" that does not require any labor to speak of. A lot of liberals are like that. They think that any one that has to work 9 to 5 is stupid. The people that hire these people are exploiting their labor. And the county needs an all controlling government run by he and his friends.
