Haditha Marine Sergeant Frank Wuterich's trial may be months away, but last night '60 Minutes' reporter Scott Pelley decided to court martial him on national television. It was one of the most outrageous displays of media bias ever. In case your memory needs refreshing, the Haditha incident was a situation in Iraq where a group of Marines, led by Wuterich, cleared a house that they thought was being used by insurgents. It turns out it was occupied by several women and children and all were killed. They've been charged with murder and their trial is expected later this year.
Wuterich says he's innocent. That the way he cleared that house was consistent with his training and that if Marines start asking before they shoot, they die. That's war...that's how it works. People die...and sometimes those people are innocent. It's called collateral damage. So anyway, all of this wasn't enough for the smarmy, condescending Scott Pelley on '60 Minutes' last night. He interviewed Wuterich and naturally, immediately took the side of the enemy.
Pelley called it a massacre...wrong. A massacre would be walking into a house, ordering everybody out, and shooting them in the head. This was a house-clearing operation, something that's done to root out insurgents in Iraq everyday. But Pelley continued his interrogation of the 25-year-old Wuterich...questioning his actions and mocking him because he hadn't seen combat prior to Haditha.
Ironically, with Pelley's interview..he may have created quite a bit of sympathy for Frank Wuterich. Just what we expect from the mainstream media...always blame America first.

Pelley has no more idea of what happened in that incident than a six year old but you would have thought he was a grizzled war veteran by the way he condescendingly talked to SSgt Wuterich. CBS shows the world again they're very proficient at gutter journalism.
I'd be very surprised if at least some of those occupants didn't know about the IED being emplaced out front.
I watched up until the break when Pelley said it was just the beginning and more civilians would be killed. That was enough for me.
My wife shushed me for yelling at the TV. Some others on the live thread commented, that it was their wives who were yelling.
I couldn't watch it because I knew it wouldn't be a fair interview. Why in the world did the kid choose CNN to tell his story????

Scott Pelley made his bones at CBS by serving as cheerleader for Janet Reno during the Branch Davidian tragedy. The Texan, who sought to be another Dan Rather, then took another step up the ladder when as CBS White House correspondent he served as cheerleader for Bill Clinton during the impeachment hearings. In March 2005 he showed his innate patriotism by breaking a story on CIA renditions and thereby gave immense aid and comfort to our Islamist and European enemies. He is already insufferable, but give him a few more years and he will be more Ratheresque than his hero.
Scott Pelley isn't the enemy. The enemy is who brought the charges in the first place...the pussies in the Administration and the Pentagon. Blame Don Rumsfeld and George W Bush. Does anyone have any idea how many innocent French, Belgian and other civilians were killed by Allied troops? It was THOUSANDS. Did FDR or Henry Stimson bring charges against them? Of course not. But it should be no surprise that a President who took his shoes off in a filthy mosque a mere 4 days after 9/11 to proclaim "Islam is Peace", would prosecute a U.S. soldier for daring to accidentally kill Islamic civilians in a wartime hot zone.

From the treatment by the enemedia, a delusional Congressman murtha, leakers in the DOD to the horrendous and probably unconstitutional investigative practices by the NCIS, these Marines have already been convicted in the eyes of millions here at home and worldwide.
This whole thing has been a travesty up to this point and our country is supposed to have the finest justice system in the world. It's outrageously disgusting.
I couldn't watch the actual show, and I could only get through 20 seconds of it on hotair, but it was more than enough to know how I'm going to react. What a travesty.
Blame the folks who told him to go on 60 minutes. Blaming CBS would be like blaming a tiger for eating you if you jumped in his cage.
They probably thought that the media would be so eagar to do a hit job on the military that they would do a PR job for him.
Why would the command condone such an interview?
Here is my take on the interview. Those who find the Sgt/SSgt to have acted improperly, will never be convinced of any legitimate action in wartime. Those who don't find him guilty of any crime, probably have more emphatic resolve to defend him.
The Executive Branch of the government, though, has a forced option upon which they must act. Either this Administration points out and convinces the American public these actions were not only legitimate but laudable, or the Administration is negligent in condoning the absence of rule of law when terror is applied by our enemies.
Likewise, the liberals must act upon the forced option as well. Either they support to authority in the rule of law, or they condone anarchist behavior amongst any party which apposes them when they have authority.
Both sides in this mess have created a situation where now they must educate the population how innocent women and children might be killed in combat zones when appropriate actions are taken or they both face the consequence that no matter how much power and authority they possess, they have now encouraged those junior to them to not act upon their direction.
Maybe they both deserve the world they seek to create.

One other observation:
The entire show had 4 commercial breaks. 2 of those breaks came during Frank's interview, right after some dramatic, damning lead by this weenie who interviewed him. The third came at the end of Frank's segment. The fourth.
Simon Cowell of American Idol followed Frank, and his interview was allowed to run for 20 minutes uninterrupted before a commercial break at 10 minutes form the top of the hour.
It's great that people get mad, but until LARGE numbers of people begin RAILING against media bias this crap will continue. have treasure troves of this garbage on record.

I was in the gym about a month ago, and there was this "kid" working out next to me. I'm 42 and I forgot how young 18-20 yrs. old looked. His T-shirt said "Haditha-unless you've been there shut the F up." I thanked him for his service. He couldn't have been a nicer, more respectful young man. It struck me afterwardss how difficult it must be for these "boys" (who are twice the man I will ever be) are put into the most difficult situations and then second guessed and prosecuted for murder if they didn't behave like State Troopers.
Where's the Pardon Dubya?
