Washington, D.C. — In a shocking and brazen act of governmental abuse of parental rights, Deerfield High School (DHS) in Deerfield, Illinois, has required fourteen-year-old freshmen to attend a “Straight Gay Alliance Network” (GSA) panel discussion led by “gay” and “lesbian” upperclassmen during a “freshman advisory” class which secretively featured inappropriate discussions of a sexual nature in promotion of high-risk homosexual behaviors.
Not only has DHS required that its young and impressionable freshmen be exposed to radical homosexual propaganda, the school has further required that students sign a “confidentiality agreement” promising not to tell anyone – including their own parents – about the discussion.
Matt Barber, Policy Director for Cultural Issues with Concerned Women for America (CWA), said of the scandal: “This is unbelievable. It’s not enough that students at Deerfield High are being exposed to improper and offensive material relative to unhealthy and high-risk homosexual behaviors, but they’ve essentially been told by teachers to lie to their parents about it.
“This goes to the heart of the homosexual agenda. The professional propagandists in the ‘gay-rights’ lobby know the method all too well. If you can maintain control of undeveloped and impressionable youth and spoon-feed them misinformation, lies and half-truths about dangerous, disordered and extremely risky behaviors, then you can control the future and ensure that those behaviors are not only fully accepted, but celebrated. That’s what homosexual activists from GSA are attempting to do, and that’s what DHS is clearly up to as well.”
Dr. George Fornero, superintendent of DHS’ Dist. 113, told CWA that the district “made a mistake” by requiring children to sign the confidentiality agreement and that it would be entirely aboveboard and honest with parents in the future. However, as Barber noted, the damage has already been done: “Until DHS and other government schools across the country are made to stop promoting the homosexual agenda, kids will continue to be exposed to — and encouraged to participate in — a lifestyle that places them at high risk for life-threatening disease, depression and spiritual despair,” said Barber.
Remarkably, even after the school district’s surreptitious actions were exposed, parents were nonetheless told that they were not welcome to sit in on the “freshman advisory” and were not permitted to have access to materials used in compiling its activist curriculum.

Homosexual School Promotions Threaten Students' Health

Dr. John Diggs, author of "The "Health Risks of Gay Sex," says homosexual sodomy is so dangerous that it's almost as if it was created to spread disease. So why are liberal teachers promoting "gay" identities to students?

This is a big week in Illinois for those promoting homosexuality to young people: yesterday, many Illinois students were engaged in a pro-"gay" propaganda exercise called the "Day of Silence," in which students (and some teachers!) go silent all day in school in solidarity with suffering homosexuals the world over.
And beginning today, students at Wheaton College will be engaged in "dialogue" with traveling activists from a radical homosexual group called Soulforce--a conversation forced by Soulforce's nationwide protest against Christian Colleges that "discriminate" against "gays and lesbians" (read: they believe the Bible that same-sex sexual behavior is sinful; more on Soulforce tomorrow).
Even though homosexuality is just one of several sexual sins, it now gets special attention and is even celebrated by many liberals. Sadly, America is now reaping the whirlwind of decades of homosexual activism, which has converted a taboo and highly destructive behavior into a minority group demanding "rights."
One of the reasons that Illinois Family Institute so strongly opposes the new pro-homosexual "sexual orientation" state law and legal "gay marriage" is that both will make it easier to promote homosexual behavior as normal and acceptable to children--especially in our schools. (This is already happening in Massachusetts.) We issue the warnings, and people are shocked, but the reality is that today's youth are already awash in pro-homosexual propaganda--producing a generation that is the most homosexual-friendly ever.
I have always marvelled at the chutzpah of well-funded homosexual groups like PFLAG (Parents, Friends and Families of Lesbians and Gays) and GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network) that market their radical "gay youth" agenda in the name of "safety" for kids. Exploiting the occasional and tragic mistreatment of schoolchildren who identify as "gay," they espouse pro-"gay" programs and policies that put many more children at risk by making it easier for young people to embrace homosexuality as an identity and lifestyle.
Did you know that GLSEN promotes "Gay-Straight Alliance" clubs (pro-homosexual clubs) in middle schools across the USA? This is a highly dangerous development for youth who may be confused about their gender or sexuality.
No responsible group can promote homosexuality in the name of health or safety. The fact is, homosexuality is an extremely high-risk lifestyle, especially for males, because it is unnatural. We would expect immoral behavior to be unhealthy, and it is. Human physiology simply is not made for homosexual sex.
My friend Dr. John Diggs of Massachusetts puts it this way: it's almost as if male-on-male sodomy was created to spread disease. In his excellent paper, "The "Health Risks of Gay Sex," Dr. Diggs writes, "The list of diseases found with extraordinary frequency among male homosexual practitioners as a result of anal intercourse is alarming:
Anal Cancer
Chlamydia trachomatis
Cryptosporidium
Giardia lamblia
Herpes simplex virus
Human immunodeficiency virus
Human papilloma virus
Isospora belli
Microsporidia
Gonorrhea
Viral hepatitis types B & C
Syphilis
Dr. Diggs writes that "Sexual transmission of some of these diseases is so rare in the exclusively heterosexual population as to be virtually unknown. Others, while found among heterosexual and homosexual practitioners, are clearly predominated by those involved in homosexual activity. Syphilis, for example is found among heterosexual and homosexual practitioners. But in 1999, King County, Washington (Seattle), reported that 85 percent of syphilis cases were among self-identified homosexual practitioners. And as noted above, syphilis among homosexual men is now at epidemic levels in San Francisco."
Homosexuals' own words show dangers
Consider these questions, asked by homosexual men, that appeared on a popular "gay health" website (fully accessible to children on the Web) founded by a homosexual doctor [WARNING: OFFENSIVE MATERIAL--NOT APPROPRIATE FOR CHILDREN]:

You get the idea.... Remember, these headlines were not concocted by Peter LaBarbera or Dr. James Dobson or Family Research Council but are reproduced verbatim from a very pro-homosexual website. They reflect the pain and health concerns of practicing "gay" men.
Do you think that young teenage boys--and even pre-teens!--who are being persuaded by do-gooder (and perhaps well-intentioned) school counselors and pro-homosexual teachers that they might be "gay" are being told how dangerous this lifestyle is? Not a chance.
In fact, most teachers and adult school administrators are ignorant of these risks because it is oh-so politically incorrect to discuss the tremendous downsides of homosexuality.
ADF's "Day of Truth"
The good news is that there is now a serious national counter-project to the pro-homosexual "Day of Silence." It is called, appropriately, the "Day of Truth," and it is sponsored by the Alliance Defense Fund, which defends Christians' freedoms across America.
Over 1,700 students across the nation, including in Deerfield High School in Deerfield, Illinois, are participating in ADF's "Day of Truth." Deerfield HS and some other Illinois schools are doing it today, but most participating schools nationwide are doing it on Thursday, April 27th, the day after the national GLSEN "Day of Silence."
Because IFI has been concentrating mostly on the Protect Marriage Referendum, we have not devoted the attention we would have liked to "Day of Truth" and the ongoing "gay school" agenda. (See my article last year on the Chicago "Night of Noise" that followed the "Day of Silence.") But the "Day of Truth website" is loaded with useful information, including a (PDF) paper, "The Ten Big Myths of Homosexual Behavior," authored by my friend, Linda Harvey of Mission America (she's a pro-family hero, by the way; I urge you to sign up for her excellent e-mails).
Congratulations to Alan Sears and the terrific people at ADF and "Day of Truth" for providing students with a way to respond to the insidious pro-homosexual propaganda at their school.

Wow! This is one of the most horrible forms of homo indoctrination. It just goes to show that these people don't want "tolerance", they want full acceptance and celebration of their behavior. The easiest way to do this is to indoctrinate vulnerable children, tweens, and teens.

This is the WORST part. They KNEW many parents would remove their children from the class. Therefore they tried to keep it secret by REQUIRING these children sign an "agreement" promising not to tell their parents what is going on. These schools prove through their sexual education that they wouldn't care if these students were watching porn (maybe that's part of "comprehensive sex-ed"), having sex with multiple partners, oral sex, and homosexual relations. Get pregnant? Planned Parenthood will take care of the "problem". The ultimate goal appears to be to continue the moral breakdown through children so in turn there are no real moral absolutes.
Get 'em out of public school! nag nag nag ;)

There are SPECIFIC laws about minors and contracts. You can't have a minor sign an employment contract, you can have a minor to buy a house. These constracts are not only unenforcable as a matter of law, the parents can sue on the contracts alone.

These GSA clubs, part of GLSEN, are nothing but sex clubs for children. Their own words damn them. They are directly ecouraging children to experiment with recreational sex.

I have a daughter in Freshman Advisory (which is actually sort of a glorified study hall) at Deerfield High School. A couple of observations:
(1) As an affected parent, I don't disapprove of the class per se, and won't be taking my daughter out of it. One of the students who will be presenting the SAGA thing is another freshman who has been a close friend of my daughter since kindergarten; he's a straight (no pun intended) A honors student, a black belt in karate, one of the nicest kids you'll ever meet, and I would be proud to have a son like him. The fact that he recently came out as gay doesn't bother me a bit (we've pretty much assumed it since he was 7).
(2) What does bother me is the sneaky-ass sleazy "vow of silence" contract created by the Administration to hide it from parents. They KNEW the subject would be controversial, and rather than transparency opted for cowardice. A rational policy would have been to recognize the controversy, inform parents, and make it either an opt-in or opt-out day... with no value judgments on those who chose not to participate.

My kid is doing a home-study program to finish high school because he was so far behind on his work. I love it! I see everything he works on; it's simple and it doesn't cost the school anything except one teacher's time (about 15 minutes a week). I don't think I'll be allowing him back inside the walls of a "real" high school any time soon.
