WASHINGTON, (AP) -- Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards was skeptical about voting for the Iraq war resolution and was pushed into it by advisers looking out for his political future, according to an upcoming book by one of his former consultants.
Democratic strategist Bob Shrum writes in his memoir to be published in June that he regrets advising Edwards to give President Bush the authority to go to war in Iraq. He said if Edwards had followed his instincts instead of the advice of political professionals, he would have been a stronger presidential candidate in 2004.
Edwards spokesman David Ginsberg disputes the suggestion that Edwards was making a political calculation with the 2002 vote that he has called the most important of his career.
"John Edwards cast his vote based on the advice of national security advisers and the intelligence he was given, not political advisers," Ginsberg said. "He got political advice on both sides of the argument, and made his own decision based on what he thought was right, not political calculation."

Don't worry, John, Nedra Pickler still loves you.
Purely rhetorical I know the answer.
Hmmmm, so he's stupid, effeminate, hypocritical and now it appears also spineless.
So Shrum is falling on his sword and doing the big suck up, so he can get lots of campaign consulting cash from the Breck Girl.
Bob Shrum [that selfless man] is willing to accept the blame--LOL! Maybe this will get Breck Boy the Cindy Sheehan contingent of votes.
I grew so rich that I was sent By a pocket borough into Parliament. I always voted at my party's call, And I never thought of thinking for myself at all. |
I thought so little, they rewarded me By making me the Ruler of the Queen's Navee! |

Hmmmmmmmmmmm
Did this same guy "pressure" the Edwards croney to call Wal-mart and ask for one of those new video games without standing in line with the "common folk"?????????
erm.......oops.
"Pushed into it"? Where does the buck stop? And this guy thinks he's President material?
So who needs a President who can be 'influenced' to go against his own conscience on anything? Edwards is worthless either way. Spineless, airhead twit!!
John Lindsay, Edmund Muskie, George McGovern, Jimmy Carter, Ted Kennedy, Dick Gephardt, Michael Dukakis, Bob Kerrey, Al Gore, John Kerry and John Edwards.
I know this is supposed to deflect
blame from Lil johnnie Toady Liar,
But all it really does, is show yet
again, that other people make up
his mind for him.
If this is true, this guy made
Edwards vote against his own
concience, and for the war...
The Frothing at the mouth Left got
him to hire the two blasphemers,
and *keep them after the scandal
broke, until he was convinced
they were causing him too much damage...
He makes it very clear his wife
has his balls in her handbag...
and now the the rabid Stalinist left
got him to pull out of the FNC hosted
debate...
Edwards has no buisiness seekihng
the office of the President, when
he doesn't even have a firm grasp
as to what he himself believes.
Yeet another poll phoney.
Edwards spokesman David Ginsberg disputes the suggestion (blah, blah, blah)..."John Edwards cast his vote based on the advice of national security advisers and the intelligence he was given, not political advisers,"
What a crock of shiite as I remember that time like it was yesterday.
That vote was scheduled in OCTOBER, before the upcoming election and every RAT in both Houses were bitching and moaning about Bush and the 'mean' republicans making it "Political". Tom Daschle and Dickie Gephardt were all over the news whining about "the timing".
They wanted the vote delayed till after the election because they didn't want to go on record as being a bunch of unpatriotic, un-American wussies, but their hand was forced. And they knew if they voted NO their cushy career was over so they all voted for it.
$#$@$# LIARS!
