Pointing out FACTS is not badmouthing. Rudy Giuliani favors many things that are in stark contrast to conservatism, this is not my opinion, it's the way it is. I am unaware of ANY deliberate lies that have been told about any of Rudy's positions on FR.

I don't know very many people who dislike Rudy as a person, we just don't want him to be president. There are a lot of Democrats who are very likable as people, but that doesn't mean that we need to agree with their politics.

You are right, wagglebee, no one has been able to point them out yet.

see. This is what I am talking about. Constant negative harping about a candidate. Welcome, DHA, to FR!

If the Rudyites think it's bad when conservatives point out his record, they're in for a really rude awakening when the 'Rats start in on him.

If we say that Hillary Clinton, Obama and John Edwards are pro-abortion, pro-homosexual agenda, anti-Second Amendment, pro-embryonic stem cell research and pro-illegal immigration, etc, is that "negative harping" or simply pointing out the FACTS?

You referenced post 542. Where is the negative harping?? You are trying to miss the point while trying to drag someone innocent into your whining. Bye!

If it were me answering your post, I would want to know why a socially liberal candidate is being pushed onto this socially conservative forum. Hunter fits the template described by Jim Robinson much better than any of the so-called front runners.

Statement of Jim Robinson, Founder of Free Republic:

As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc.

The 2 polls on Free Republic put forth an obvious SOCON (only Hunter fits that description given) versus a SOLIB (it certainly fits rudy).
http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/poll?poll=171
http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/poll?poll=172

Rudy splits the base.

I would expect rudy supporters to answer the false dilemma because there have certainly been enough of them asking the false dilemma of "who would you vote for, Hildebeast or Rudy", and your post is a new form of sendup of the same false dilemma. If you don't like answering false dilemmas, don't ask them, and get yer buddies to stop asking them. In particular, since this is a socon forum (not even a GOP forum), it is very impolite to ask double-bind questions, expecially this early in the race.

Would you care to answer the false dilemma? Since team rudy is so fond of its own false dilemma, after all.

My contention: If rudy gets the nomination, he splits the base, possibly splits the republican party, and loses the election.

Your contention: If Hunter gets it, he wins the base and loses the election.

Hypothetical to answer your hypothetical. Both sides losing to Hillary.
Side A: The solib republican splits the base. The MSM turns on him the moment he is nominated. Hillary wins. Republican party is split.
Side B: The socon republican wins the nomination, loses to hildebeast in a tough fight. Republicans are united against the hillary presidency.

Which candidate is best for the republican party, Side A or Side B?

Win-Win false dilemma:
Side A: Solib wins presidency by ignoring the socon base and permanently splitting the republican party.
Side B: SoCon wins presidency by (obviously) relying on the socon base.

Which candidate is best for the republican party, Side A or Side B?

Great observations!

Unfortunately, they only apply for people who ACTUALLY BELIEVE IN THE CONSERVATIVE AGENDA.

I've seen all that before. Question for you - it's understood that FR is a site founded by and run by Jim Robinson. I support a candidate different than you.

Because I support a candidate different than you, does that mean my views are not welcome? Do you want to squelch my thoughts...because then you're tinkering with my right to free speech. Does my support of Rudy mean I am not a conservative? More importantly, does Duncan Hunter think that supporters of Rudy are not conservative (because to win the presidency, we're going to need more than just conservatives to vote for a Republican candidate). ?
\So does that mean that my views are not welcome? Does that mean I am "not a conservative?" Primary for me is the war on terror and security of this nation.

Since this is a public forum, my questions to Duncan Hunter's Ambassador, let's just call him SAM, are fair questions and he answered them. He provided me the answer I wanted to hear. So sorry that you can't let him answer for himself. I wonder why. Are you worried about something?

I would be more than happy to answer your questions if you answer mine. Remember, the answer is ONLY A or B. That's what it feels like to be on the horns of a false dilemma.

It says good things that the Hunter campaign is willing to parley with us down here at ground level - unlike the other candidates (at least so far). We conservatives (MOST of us here on FR) have gotten used to being treated by the GOP like the redheaded stepchild.

Your dad is looking better all the time.

Regarding Government spending, my father's voting record as scored by the American Conservative Union was a 92%.

In regards to the Meehan's/Shay's comment:

Rep. Hunter voted against the Shays-Meehan (aka McCain-Feingold) Bipartisan Campaign Finance Reform Act in the 105th, 106th and 107th Congresses (It finally passed in the 107th Congress P.L. 107-155). During the 109th Congress, Rep. Hunter did vote in favor of H.R. 513, the 527 Reform Act, which would subject 527 political organizations involved in federal elections to regulation under the Federal Election Campaign Act. 527 organizations were operating outside the regulatory framework of the federal election law, thereby allowing such organizations to raise and spend an unlimited amount on behalf of a single candidate. H.R. 513 helped reform this loophole and Rep. Hunter supported the reform. Rep. Hunter believes in free speech, which is why he opposed the Bipartisan Capaign Finance Reform Act, however, if speech in the form of money is going to be regulated for some, it should be done so for all.

Dad had done lots of TV and radio in the past couple of months across the spectrum. Lou Dobbs, Neil Cavuto, Hardball and Fox and Friends have been especially good, as have Glen Beck, Mike Reagan, Bill Bennett, Gordon Liddy and many others.

With the big Republican field our take is that the RNC is properly neutral in this primary race.

Dad has stated many times that Senator Kerry's statements about G.I.s in Vietnam were untrue. He also has condemned Jane Fondas acts of support for the North Vietnamese.

Dad did a press conference on keeping Gauntanamo open today, I believe it was all over the news. He believes it is important to warehouse terrorists like Khalid Sheikh Mohammad in order to protect Americans.

>My father believes in limited government, requiring only a large enough bureaucracy to execute the basic functions of the Federal Government, while leaving control of all other aspects of Government to the states and the American People.<

The above is tremendously well worth repeating.

If there was a modicum of doubt in my mind, it is completely gone now. I will do all I can do to get him elected

Dad learned those things from his dad United States Marine Bob Hunter. Dad farmed an Island in Idaho on the Snake River. He learned not to overload the barge! LOL
He and his partner sunk a grain combine, which quickly took care of all the profits.

Check out dad's speeches on China, these can found on his website(www.gohunter08.com).
Basically, he will stop thier trade cheating with sanctions and build America's strength in space, deep-strike, and Naval capability.
