Nonsense!
Rudy is the one the Dems are afraid of.
They are just working hard to con the Republicans to nominate ANYONE BUT Rudy, because they CAN BEAT ANYONE BUT RUDY.
Thomson would split the Republicans and we would end up with McCain and I cannot think of a worst choice than McCain vs. Hillary and of course Hillary would win.

I wouldn't take Bob Beckel at his word if he said the sun was out at high noon.

Democratic strategist Bob Beckel admitted, in an interview on Fox News, that Fred Thompson for president would be their worst nightmare. If Beckel said this it probably means he personally has possession of pictures of Fred in bed with a sheep, a little boy and a dead hooker.
How do you know a Dhimmicart is lying? His lips are moving.
That's not a joke, so far as I'm concerned. Even when they think they're telling the truth you'll find out it's a lie if you dig far enough.

This is the same Fred Thompson who's Senate committee did that bang up job nailing Bill and Al for their Chinese connections? No wonder Beckel is encouraging him to run! The Clintons have already proved they don't need to work up a sweat to squish him. Howard Baker's support confirms my impression. Yes, Fred was a reliable conservative vote and thus a useful back bencher, but when heavy lifting was needed he couldn't handle anything unscripted.

I don't like Beckel & I sure don't trust him to tell the truth.
All of that aside, SEN Thompson, please run.
All I can offer you is my vote, my support, a modest campaign contribution, and a pair of seats to the every UT / FL game played in Knoxville for the next 8 years.
A President has a lot of power, I know. However, I have great seats and this is Tennessee football.

He is being pushed by Howard Baker who used his power to dam the Little T

Baker is tainted.

Fred Thompson is an all-around conservative. But he's past his prime. I don't doubt that he could translate his Law 'n Order fame into a few more votes in Cleveland and Pittsburgh and maybe hold Ohio and win Pennsylvania. Maybe have the same effect on Wisconsin and a few other close blue states, without losing any red states (though the Clintons seem to be worshipped down in Florida). But we're really approaching "senior statesman" territory here. And senior statesmen don't win presidential elections. If Obama is the nominee, it'll be youth v. age. If it's Hillary, she'd get a good run for her money but she might still pull it out. Rudy is 64 but acts 44. He's still our best shot.

Do conservatives really think that a McCain supporter is the answer?!
"Among potential complications in a Thompson race is that he is good friends with McCain, a current presidential candidate. Thompson endorsed McCain for president in his 2000 bid. "
