Democratic strategist Bob Beckel admitted, in an interview on Fox News, that Fred Thompson for president would be their worst nightmare. Sounds good to me!

Wow, very interesting! I could easily see (and support) a Thompson candidacy! Duncan or Fred, what to do...
> From what I can find... his position on illegals mirrors the presidents.
Dang. That's disappointing. :-( Guess I'm sticking w/ Hunter '08.
>> I thought he looked much more presidential than Clinton.
>A sickly Blue Tick hound would look more presidential than Clinton.
That's a slur on sickly Blue Tick hounds :-) I think we need to step down to the slime mold level.
Chris Wallace Fox New 6pm EST, Today, we may get answers.
Bob eckel: "Please don' throw me in dat briar patch."
Hunter's the best so far... Thompson hasn't got in yet so we can only speculate on his current beliefs. When he was in office... he was talking(illegals) much the same as McCain and the president. I'm gonna' wait and see IF he runs... and IF he comes down hard on illegals/employers... etc.
American women WANT a Socialist and they will have one.. even if its a republican socialist.. Any american women that even know what socialist means as a word.. They just know what a socialist does.. Buys expensive stuff with other peoples money..
Hes got my vote.
NO... MOST WOMEN ARE SOCIALISTS themselves..
Most democrats are women and most liberals are women..
i.e. most socialists ARE women.. some men are socialists also but most are WOMEN.. WHY?... Are women politically dumber than men?.. There is no doubt some maybe even most are..
Very strange for a Democrat strategist to say a Republican is their worst nightmare. They must want him to run.

My thoughts exactly. Beckel is too savy to hand us something so easily. The must have a bombshell on ol' Fred waitin' in the wings. Maybe they have him smoking crack with Marion Barry.
.
With pleasure :)
I don't think he's brilliant, just deeply devious and mendacious.
And on another note, I don't see Thompson as a great supporter of an armed citizenry, just better than Julie. I could vote for him, but not Julie.
See my post #23. I truly doubt he will run"
Even if he is friendly with McVain, I see him running. I don't think he will let "friendship" stand in his way when he can read the polls as well as we can.
McVain is having alot of trouble getting traction and money. No One can run without money. Chrissie Mathews said this AM that McVain was dropping in the polls because of his support of the war.
I think Chrissie has it wrong. I think Republicans are wary of McVain's:
Age
Health
Temper
His "it's due to me" attitude
Flipping back and forth on serious issues
BAD campaign reform endeavors
Overall arrogance
Any other ideas?
I like Fred Thompson. I like his apparent unflappable attitude, while his brain is running ar warp speed.
I don't like Tommy Thompson.
There are some serious Hollywood Conservatives. I think they would bring some good money to Fred Thompson.
I admire and respect Newt. He was magnificent for a short time in the 90s. I just cannot see him as the political leader of the Republican party. The intellectual leader? perhaps. "
How about President Fred Thompson with Rudy as VP , Newt as Chief of Staff, Tancredo as head of Homeland Security, John Bolton back to the United Nations, and Duncan Hunter in there someplace. I cannot come up with a brainstorm for Sec of State of Sec Def. Help me!!
Thank you for taking the time to get these statistics out in front of us. Please keep repeating them on other threads for further dispensing of info.
He certainly looks solid enough for a very large percentage of the voters. I'm more impressed every time I read more and more of his voting record.
Secretary of State: Mitt Romney or John Bolton (better) and Romney at the UN. He has the "gravitas" - I hate that word but he has it.
As for the campaign money, Fred will take over most of McCain's supporters, because I think this will be the way for Johnny Boy to bow out with a little bit of his arse left, he's going to kill any support Romney had in the South and Midwest, and some Rudy supporters are going to back up and think to themselves, "There's actually a conservative in this race?". He'll come up with the money. Fast.
Not sure Johnny Boy knows how to bow out gracefully.
He must know that this is his Last and Final chance to be in the Oval Office. I just don't think he has the grace and perception to support a better Republican candidate like FDT for the good of the country as a whole.
I am terrified of McVain getting into the Oval Office, as I think his temper is far from something positive.
