Democratic strategist Bob Beckel admitted, in an interview on Fox News, that Fred Thompson for president would be their worst nightmare. Sounds good to me!

Was it you who said that Beckel was "a fat, whore mongering, lying tub a' crap?"
I think lots of people agree with the fact that he's a "fat, whore mongering, lying tub a' crap?"

He does have the name/face recognition that conservatives need so badly.

I agree, and I think Fred would change the landscape, I would love to see him in a debate with Hillary.

I can't imagine a man at 64 giving a damn about an acting career, or any other career for that matter.

Very strange for a Democrat strategist to say a Republican is their worst nightmare. They must want him to run. Beckel is playing the media whore. He is saying whatever will get him invited back.
I like Thompson. But whatever Bob Beckel has to say about him -- or any other Republican -- carries absolutely zero weight.

I would love to see him in a debate with Hillary.I think Fred would destroy the Wicked Witch of the West Wing in a debate. But then any competent GOP candidate would. Rick Lazio isn't going up against her next year. But Fred has the look, the gravitas, and the Presidential aroma about him that would just drive her into the ground...

No, CRAIG Livingstone, whom NOBODY would admit to having hired.

Since it is doubtful that Thompson can raise the needed funds, a McCain hookup is more than probable.
To: Sturm Ruger
Also, Thompson married a 35-year-old major babe just five years ago. Ol' Fred is probably still pretty frisky, LOL. If he is, more power to him! I'll be lucky if I end up with a 35-year-old babe in my 60s. Heck, I'd be lucky to snag a 35-year-old babe right now!

Agreed, Fred is the best Talker this side of Reagan.

And just WHY would anyone take Hunter on as VEEP, when he is a nobody going nowhere?
To: areafiftyone
nahhh... we won't endorse Mcnut. he is waiting for McNut to see the light and back out. Fred probably expects to inherit McNuts staff and resources. friendship still has its advantages.
friendship doesn't equate to agreement. Pres. Reagan and Tip O'Neill got along just fine in private. Gordon Liddy also likes and respects McNut and one would be quite remiss to claim that Liddy isn't a conservative.

McCain is sinking like the Titanic, it would make no sense for anybody to hook up with him, except Hillary, another sinking ship.

Among his interest group ratings, FDT earned a perfect zero from National Abortion Reproductive Rights Action, a perfect 100% from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, only 11% from the ACLU, 85% from the American Conservative Union, 86% from the Center for Security Policy, a perfect zero from the American Federation of Teachers, 6% from the National Education Association, 90% from the League of Private Property Voters, 97% from the National Tax Limitation committee, 88% from the National Taxpayers Union and a perfect zero from the liberal ADA. In a 1995 analysis, Project Vote Smart listed Thompson as having supported Contract With America items 100% of the time. great review!!!! thank you SR.

Yes, we'll soon see just how very WRONG you are. :-)

"Very strange for a Democrat strategist to say a Republican is their worst nightmare. They must want him to run."
It is one thing to want someone to RUN. It is another for them to want them to WIN in the primary. It is yet another for them to want them to win in the GENERAL election. So it's not strange at all. Similar ploys seem to be underway to stealthily--but only temporarily--prop up various GOP 'moderates' until right after the primary. Why? Because at present, not just any 'Republican' is their true worst nightmare, only seriously Conservative ones are. The DNC strategist's REAL nightmare could much more easily come true if we all knew that.
